08.28.20 | trying out a pomodoro timer today to help me stay focused on work (it’s been SO hard for me to sit down and write). i’ve never been a big believer in it, but i figured i need to suspend my judgement for a bit and give it a shot since i’m flailing around trying to be productive lol. so far it’s been going well and setting blocks of time to where i *need* to work helps get my brain in the zone.

Where do you find motivation to study? I have always believed that the study has the power to transform lives. But, the opportunities are so few and everything is so uncertain that lately I have been wondering if it is worth it. (sorry for the bad english, it's not my native language)

honestly i don’t feel too motivated either these days. it’s a whole lot more of feeling disciplined enough to understand that i chose this path of school/studying and that in order to prepare myself for the career i want, this is what i have to do. so even when i’m not motivated to do anything, i know deep down that there’s nothing else i can do but just do it. because if i don’t, then i’m not moving myself along a pathway that’s important to me. motivation comes and goes, but discipline will carry you through step by step and day by day. it’s worth it if the outcome at the end/at the finish line is something you can see yourself enjoying and being happy with.

and honestly, i feel uncertain a lot too these days! i change ideas on what i wanna do when i graduate next year all the time. we have no idea what the world will look like in the future, but it’s important to focus on what you think you want your goals to look like and figure out how you can make actionable steps toward those goals on a daily basis, no matter how small.

08.05.20 | morning light on my sunflowers that i picked this weekend, my new autumn candle burning, and working on the methodology section of my dissertation. i find myself frequently referencing my APA manual because it’s just so easy to follow and colorful. and there are so many nuances i wouldn’t think to check as i’m writing my dissertation, and i want to make sure i’m adhering to everything properly!! (e.g. what should each heading look like? how much space is there after a paragraph? when do you repeat the year for author-date in-text citations? etc...)

07.22.20 | hii guys. :) this summer has consisted of working on my dissertation (lit review currently - having such a hard time getting through these chapters 😭), taking care of and repotting my plants (peace lily pups pictured here 🥰), and exploring new hikes/walks each weekend. trying to fully be present this summer and hold myself accountable to my work in a balanced way.

that it’s dangerous and violent like just out in the open on any given day lmaooo 

2. What first impression do you think you give others?

i’ve been told that i’m intimidating lolol which is hilarious because once you get to know me you realize i’m the softest person out there hahaha

3. What misconception do you think others have about you?

that i’m not interested in being around others/hanging out in groups because i’m always very quiet in group situations. it’s just my personality and i tend to be more reserved in groups. i do better in one-on-one hanging out sessions with friends

black high waisted jeans and a black cropped t shirt lolol. maybe some black slip on vans hehe.

i don’t remember what it is and i don’t put any merit in MBTI, even for fun lmao (i’m a killjoy i know don't come for me)

tbh i don’t think my schools had it as distinctly as it’s portrayed in the media, but people definitely congregated in groups and i think that’s normal. people with similar interests will always gather together. this is such an awesome question i love it and now i’m thinking about it so deeply LMAO

yes, i have the whitelines grid notebook! it’s absolutely worth it. i’ve use them as all my notebooks now for the past few semesters. the white lines are so much nicer to work with than standard lined pages, imo. it’s so much less distracting. and the paper quality is nice too - i always found standard lined notebooks (even the “nicer” brands) to have too much grit/feedback and i didn’t like it. i really, really love whitelines and wouldn’t go back to regular lined paper if i could help it. it’s clean and places the focus directly on your notes. definitely worth the steeper price point if these kinds of things are important to you!  & if you are into scanning the pages, that’s an option too that they promote, but i’ve never used that feature.
