Please read this important note!
I feel like I have to make this post due to the some of the things I’ve been through as of recently. I am a black woman, a junior in college, I’m in the International English honor society: Sigma Tau, amongst my other accomplishments those two are the most important to me…
But I feel alone. I feel like I am just a figment of imagination floating in the wind, it’s like I don’t exist. Black girls we really don’t get anything y’know. Even here where fanfiction is supposed to be a safe space and reader inserts are supposed to be all inclusive, I’m alone.
There’s little to no fanfiction writers that are black. It’s seen as weird and ‘white’ to like anime, Japanese music, and Korean music and lately the fetishization of Asian men has really put them on their high horse with the way they treat people like me IRL ( of course this isn’t every Asian man alive but my experience has been lead on by them, because they know that they’re a desired race now due to kpop and what not, and then them dropping me because I’m not mixed or light skinned. Or because my hair isn’t straight). Asian men who are the bottom tier of attractiveness just like us (statistically speaking), gay men who are discriminated against too, and other races in general treat us like trash. And when people who are not black write black characters or black fanfiction they make us: ratchet, mammys, ghetto, or our culture is erased to fit into the white narrative.
I want to make it clear that I am a black fanfiction writer who’s writing is aimed at black women and girls, but I don’t want you guys to think that you can’t read my writing because I write a reader with black features. It’s not fair to my girls that we don’t have a safe space for us y’know. I want black girls to feel as if it’s okay to be attracted to Asian men, read manga watch anime, learn Korean and Japanese, and even listen to kpop/jpop and everything and anything under that spectrum.
And I’m really not keen to hearing the whole: “You can write a reader insert without describing feature.” I honestly don’t wanna hear it, because same respected isn’t afforded to us.
I need you to listen before your inbox me with BS.
While my blog is aimed towards black girls, please do not ever feel unwelcomed here. If you like my writing, please read. If you have a request for a reader of another skin color, then request it! I can only accurately write through a black lens, but I will try for you. If you like my writing don’t feel as though you’re not welcomed here because you aren’t black, ask me to write something for you. Ask me questions, ask me about who I like in kpop/Jpop/khh/JHH. I want to talk to you all, I want to be friends.
Because we are a community. There aren’t a lot of people who like kpop and there’s an even smaller group of people write ff/RIs/
But you guys don’t understand how badly I wanted to be white growing up, so I could be pretty, so I could feel included, so I could read fanfictions featuring characters who were just like me…
I don’t want to do that anymore y’all. I’m not enclosing my blog off to other races, but I do want my black ff readers to know you’re not alone ever.
