I’ve been thinking about the lake
I think it's really interesting that a lot if not all of the Smile ARG is clearly talking about the Weird/Snowgrave route and what it represents in the overall narrative and metanarrative. I especially think the ferris wheel response is a fantastic example of this. "You want to see them together so badly" refers to the player forcing Noelle to ride the ferris wheel with Kris when she would normally choose to ride it with Susie. This is the player turning fate to be how THEY want it, and whoever is answering the ARG is clear about that fact. This is what YOU want, so badly, that you're willing to start the route. "You want to see those red eyes dance" refers to Kris's red eyes, and how much more you're using them as your puppet in this route. The response mentions multiple times that "it's wrong," every part of it, because everything about this relationship is. The Weird Route, with all of its toxic marriage metaphors, should not have happened.
"You'll make it. You always do... don't you?" This is the overall message. "The heart does what it does." The player will do whatever they want, and if they want to continue this route, "what good is it for [them] to say?" If this is Gaster, it may be him hinting at the idea that he doesn't want you to continue this, that this is not what he planned for (though, I do also think that the theories about him wanting this and deliberately hinting towards it in the Sword Route are Very Interesting). Perhaps it's reverse psychology, or a form of egging (haha) the player on: "don't you?" almost sounds like a challenge, as if to say, "if you want this to happen, you can!" Or, it could simply be another hint towards the player's curiosity or wants leading them to do bad things, similarly to the Genocide Route in UNDERTALE, where you reset the timeline just because you wanted to see what would happen.
As Sans puts it, "No matter what, you'll just keep going. Not out of any desire for good or evil... but just because you think you can. And because if you can, you 'have to.'"

Going to watch Obsession. I am armed with nothing but the cloudiest idea of what the movie is about and an undying love for horror. I'll post my thoughts later!

I absolutely adore how quickly people unanimously agreed on the dynamic the three teams have (tragedy and comedy are in love, mystery is mystery)
