It took her a moment before saying anything, eyes slowly moving back up. “Hm, thanks. You lool… you look good too.” Good? He looked more than good, he always did. And Dorcas cursed at herself for still getting flustered whenever he was around. Her eyes briefly traveled across the room but it really wasn’t long until they settled back on him. “I love it. It’s good to see everyone gathered, and happy.”

“Just good?” He teased, letting out a laugh. “Yeah it’s nice to see people happy,” His eyes flickered to where Winnie was animatedly talking to Emrys and he smiled soflty. “It really is.” However, as he went to turn back towards Dorcas, his eyes caught sight of Theo and his expression soured. “Well. Most people. What’s new with you then? Anything interesting to catch me up on?”

“Wow you look--” Cain cut himself off, his eyes roaming the other up and down for a moment. “Beautiful. Not surprising though, you always are,” He murmured, grinning at the other. He was still fairly sober, trying to act responsible for once -- but after seeing Theo arrived with Andy, and then flirting with people he’d thrown back a few shots in annoyance. He wasn’t sure why he was so irritated, probably due to the fact his best friend had barely spoke to him. “How are you enjoying the evening?”

She wasn’t sure she’d be staying much longer anyway, only wanting to go back to her dorm and contemplate some thoughts she’d been nurturing the past few weeks. And her distraction lead her to collide into someone else, the glass slipping from her hands to shatter against the floor. “Sorry, I was distracted.” Florence started, staring at the broken glass before she finally looked up. “Oh, Cain.”

Cain wasn’t entirely sure he wanted to be at a wedding, but he wasn’t particularly for starting another argument with Winnie, either. His eyes were drawn to his best friend, narrowed as he watched the other talk to someone else. Bitterly, Cain brought the bottle to his lips -- his gaze catching Theo’s. That was, until someone collided into him, drawing his attention to the other. “Shit! Are you alright?” He asked, setting the bottle down as he frowned at the other. “Flo? You all good?”

Maybe he would remember something? Maybe Chloe knows more.. you know, now that I begin to think about it. Remember that time when we had to fight Elijah, and he hurt Celia.” he said grimly. “He did sound way too cocky for someone getting beat to pulp.” 

“Eh, slip of the tongue. We’re not exactly friends, especially after that piece of information,” He muttered bitterly. “He was blacking out before, right? I don’t think he’d remember. She might, though I wasn’t particularly pleasant the last time I talked to her, so you might need to take the reins on that one.” As the other mentioned Elijah, Cain swore. “You’re right. He knew exactly what he’d done. Damn it, we need to figure out how to get information on Elijah.”

“I don’t think so either, but we.. buried him.” He shook his head as the image of his dead cousin floated to the forefront of his mind, having to remind himself that he was now alive and seemingly well. “Jewelry? What do you mean?” he asked him in confusion. “What kind of jewelry?” 

“We buried someone. I’m not too certain it was him anymore, just someone made to look like him. I just-- who would go into that much trouble to fake his death?” Cain muttered, before letting out a sigh. “An amulet of sorts. After he died, you know I was hooking up with Chloe Burke? Well she was acting weird, and then told me that she’d given her father an amulet that basically worked like the imperius charm. Her father apparently sold it to Elijah. That’s how he was being controlled, I tried to research the amulet but --- I couldn’t find a lot. I’m concerned that somehow, this isn’t over.”

“I mean, I want to be happy, I want to believe that he’s back. It just doesn’t seem right to me. How the hell did it happen, Mols?” His voice cracked, “We fucking buried him, how the hell is lying in the damn hospital wing. If that wasn’t him, who the hell is lying in that coffin? Where the fuck has he been?” A shaky breath escaped his lips and Cain closed his eyes. “I hate this, I hate thinking about it, I hate feeling this way--- I can’t seem to take my mind off of it and it’s driving me crazy.”
