After what felt like hours in Dumbledore’s office, Jacob had finally arrived back at the Hufflepuff common room. One thing he’d always been grateful for was that there was no password to get in - just the same pattern that had to be knocked on one of the barrels. Easy to remember, and it didn’t change… he was sure it was the only thing he could say that about. So, after tapping the rhythm of Helga Hufflepuff with his wand, he entered the common room, taking a deep breath once he actually stepped inside, and letting himself smile as he took it in.
Dorcas had been sitting in one of the couches of the common room for a while now, a book open on her laps, although she wasn’t exactly studying it at this point. Usually, studying in the common room meant her talking with people more than studying, except it was rather empty today, so she was stuck having to actually study. So the moment she heard the door open, her head shot up, smile on her face, only to find it replaced by a frown as she looked at the newcomer. “Merlin” was the first thing that slipped through her lips, slowly standing up. “Jacob?”Â
