all “asylum” based horror: some guy obsessed with god and christian religion, some random dude facing a wall and talking to himself, ~~~i bet u thought a patient did this but in fact the doctors were doing evil experiments ooho how subversive~~~~, some dude laughing alone, writing on the wall about “them” or also about god, writing is all in blood somehow, a really buff patient out to kill you for absolutely no reason, if there’s a girl she sings a lot and acts like a toddler
me: i get it u have no imagination
ppl are tagging this outlast but this is literally like 20 different games and movies this is not one single callout it is a genre wide challenge

“Bearer of the curse… Long have I awaited one such as you, one who might shatter the shackles of fate. One who can set me free.”
Found some hands tutorial by me
Not in English but hope it will help???????
Do you have any more creepy stories? I can't get enough of them.
I have a couple. Pick your choice:
- stories my mom told me about her weird childhood
- stories my sis told me about her work (she’s a nurse)
- a story a security guard told me
ok so my mom is very superstitious. Not like “black cats are bad luck” kind of superstition but more of a “if you disrespect nature, you’ll get cursed” type of belief system (fun trivia: I still have a habit of apologizing whenever I end up in a place that’s predominated by nature (ie the woods)… it’s my mom’s fault)
after my mom told me about the things that’s happened to her when she was in high school, I may have found the reason why.
My mom moved in with her uncle because he lived relatively near the school she wanted to go in. And by relatively near, I mean you’ll have to come down the mountain to school and if you’re lucky, find a cab from the town who would willingly drive you back home or else you’ll walk. Basically he lived in a big house in the mountain.
Sadly, later on, his family passed away and he died soon after due to depression. The house was sold to someone else before I was even born. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
I made a plan of the house based on my mom’s stories. Basically, it was a house with a pool at the back. There’s also a big tree which stretched towards a stream below. Obviously, this isn’t 50% correct but for the story’s sake, let’s assume this is what the property looked like.
Once, my mom told me about the time she managed to get a ride back home. When she told the driver the destination, he said he knew the area. “It’s the one with the large mansion right?”. At first she just assumed the driver was exaggerating about the size of her uncle’s house. He mentioned bringing someone to their house recently. “You guys are pretty wealthy, huh? Must be nice. Always throwing parties in the middle of the night.” He said, the last time he took a passenger there, there seemed to be a large celebration. There were lights everywhere and there was music and singing. They invited the driver over for something to eat but he didn’t want to intrude.
As far as my mom knew, they haven’t had a party in a while.
When they reached the property, the driver seemed confused. When she looked back, he was just staring at the space behind their house as if there was something missing there. Mumbling something about a mansion.
This one is kinda mundane but I’ll include it anyway.
Whenever my mom didn’t have homework or chores, she would wander around the property. Her favorite spot was a large indentation in the ground that they used for dumping dead leaves in. When it’s freshly filled, she would jump on top and pretend it was a trampoline.
It was short-lived though. One day, it rained pretty hard and shortly after, they noticed the compost pit turned into a massive gaping sink hole.
It was so deep, when they shone a light in it, it was still pitch black. They cordoned off the area and my mom lost her favorite trampoline. Her uncle blamed it on the tree for some reason but some assumed there was most likely an underground cave right below.
Her uncle hated the big tree behind their house. Its roots would crawl all over the place and it would leave a huge mess of leaves in his pool that he had to clean it regularly. Nobody agreed to cut down the tree for fear of getting cursed so the tree just sat there like an overgrown root monster. At some point, he kinda just gave up and left the pool to turn green with algae. Anyway, one day they started finding the parts around the pool wet (like someone had been swimming in it). They assumed it was neighborhood kids trespassing into their backyard for a midnight summer swim because the stream below had dried up from the drought. It continued like that for a few while so her uncle had someone keep watch at night.
Soon, they saw splashing in the water. But there was no one. They concluded it was the wind that was causing all the splashing but when morning came, they found a set of large footprints in the algae.
I’m trying to remember what else she told me about. There was a weird doppelganger incident and random footsteps from nobody. Their house was just that. Kinda weird. Sometimes, there are things that are just way too big to be controlled or comprehended by anyone. She began to respect nature more.
My mom graduated high school and moved back to her mom. A few years later, her uncle finally decided to cut the tree himself. Soon after, his business started failing. Before he was officially bankrupt, his kids and wife died in a car accident. Everyone thought he was cursed by whatever was living in that tree.
Decades later, we moved into my old childhood home. There was a large tree right in front that was the same exact kind that used to be in her uncle’s property.
It was a very beautiful tree.
Hello! :D Do you have any advice on drawing creatures at different angles? I struggle a lot with coming up with a pose and trying to draw it at another angle, and in your work your anatomy, shading/lighting, proportions and foreshortening are always just so perfect ;w; In particular Tau’s reference sheet, those greyscale headshots of him are so incredible that they look like 3D models :’) Thank you for your time!
*starts sweating*
make a 3D model
When i know that i’m looking at a figure or an environment that i will draw a lot more and very regularly in the future, i make a 3D model.
But most of the time i don’t use the model. It’s best to use it in specific situations, like when you are trying to get the hang of the design (the end goal of that is being able to draw it from memory alone with ease). Or when you make a reference sheet, because the accuracy should be top notch there. Just sculpting a model of it alone helps, because the knowledge you gain from sculpting the design will carry over to 2D, whether you like it or not, you really have no say in it, fortunately. :p
draw, fail, delete, draw, fail, delete, draw, fail, delete, until success
In contrast with that, i don’t have a model for most of my designs, including these two. Most of the time what i like to do i’d call “brute-forcing” accuracy. That is… drawing it and deleting it over and over and over again, without help, until it looks right. I like to think of it as making my brain’s 3D software stronger.
observe & learn & memorize & draw relevant real life things
Drawing from life/photo is to train your brain software too. You basically suggest to it, for example “this shading is correct in these lighting conditions on this material, code it into System32”. By this, while drawing from memory/imagination, you relegated the task of accurate shading to your subconscious and you can spend your active concentration on better things.
(this example image is more like a joke, but if i ever draw Pegasus in a catbread pose again, i will have a better idea of what to do and what not to do - and i will certainly not be drawing him like this next time i use this pose)
construct and transform the figure using basic shapes
You can also use that tecnique everyone keeps recommending for everything that is basically “break the figure down into simple shapes like cylinders, orbs, cones, squares, etc and transform those shapes”. E.g.: don’t think of it as a bird’s wing, think of it as a sheet of paper. If the base shape looks ok after you draw it from a different angle, it will also look ok after you put the details back on it. Probably. Art is an art, not a science. The reason everybody keeps recommending this technique is because it’s really effective, when done right.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perspective_(graphical) - and train your brain to make use of this thing too.
(like this but with more effort)
get intimately familiar with your design
Practice/repetition/familiarity can’t (or maybe shouldn’t) be skipped, needless to say. If you already drew pigeon wings 4999 different ways, the 5000th will not be as hard to draw as if you have only drawn pigeon wings 50 times before.
Also pays off to get familiar with your creature’s range of motions, behaviors, relative sizes of bodyparts, etc. Every new pose and angle for every different design you draw is more or less like uncharted land.
if it looks wrong, it isn’t necessarily wrong
Maybe this is a very niche scenario, i don’t know, but sometimes when one design looks terrible/wrong from another angle it’s because that is how it looks from another angle. It tends to happen when i couldn’t predict that the design will not look good from any other angle, or when my brain gets stuck on a belief (e.g. when i was like 8, i thought that bones can’t have a bent shape because they are rigid so if they bent they would break. I drew very… very straight limbs for a while). This is another reason for me to make a 3D model. It’s good for troubleshooting.
embrace the struggle
“I struggle a lot with coming up with a pose and trying to draw it at another angle” is how i feel too. More often than not. If you want to be varied and draw many kinds of Things, new things all the time, struggle will be riding shotgun in your car forever. Name your struggle. I’ll name mine Bob. Bob might be a douche canoe, but he is my douche canoe. Life is never dull when Bob’s around. I hope these tips will make your Bob more fun too.
