Basically what is being said in this dumb “review” is that some yt person had the audacity to tell Kalynn, the author of Cinderella Is Dead, that more ppl would be interested in reading her book if she made the one of the main characters white....

White ppl have some nerve! We do not have to have a yt main character in order for ppl to buy our books. We don’t have to have yt ppl involved in anything we do cuz y’all are not our target audience. The world does not revolve around you. Realistically and fictionally. If I wanna make a book about two Black girls falling in love I’m going to do it whether you like it or not.

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan. First book in a YA fantasy series in an Asian-inspired setting by a mixed-race author of Malaysian descent, featuring a F/F romance.

Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore. A young adult fantasy about two sisters in a cursed family, written by a Mexican-American nonbinary author.

Mongrels by Stephen Graham Jones. A contemporary, coming-of-age fantasy about a boy and his werewolf family, written by a Blackfeet Native American author.

When I was younger and more abled, I was so fucking on board with the fantasy genre’s subversion of traditional femininity. We weren’t just fainting maidens locked up in towers; we could do anything men could do, be as strong or as physical or as violent. I got into western martial arts and learned to fight with a rapier, fell in love with the longsword.

But since I’ve gotten too disabled to fight anymore, I… find myself coming back to that maiden in a tower. It’s that funny thing, where subverting femininity is powerful for the people who have always been forced into it… but for the people who have always been excluded, the powerful thing can be embracing it.

As I’m disabled, as I say to groups of friends, “I can’t walk that far,” as I’m in too much pain to keep partying, I find myself worrying: I’m boring, too quiet, too stationary, irrelevant. The message sent to the disabled is: You’re out of the narrative, you’re secondary, you’re a burden.

The remarkable thing about the maiden in her tower is not her immobility; it’s common for disabled people to be abandoned, set adrift, waiting at bus stops or watching out the windows, forgotten in institutions or stranded in our houses. The remarkable thing is that she’s like a beacon, turning her tower into a lighthouse; people want to come to her, she’s important, she inspires through her appearance and words and craftwork. In medieval romances she gives gifts, write letters, sends messengers, and summons lovers; she plays chess, commissions ballads, composes music, commands knights. She is her household’s moral centre in a castle under siege. She is a castle unto herself, and the integrity of her body matters.

That can be so revolutionary to those of us stuck in our towers who fall prey to thinking: Nobody would want to visit; nobody would want to listen; nobody would want to stay.

Since I’ve been having so much luck with this account, I decided to make a separate Summoner character for it. This is Narcissus, he’s silent, serious and capable, with teams of brutally deadly overbuffed Heroes (opposite to my other Summoner).

Shoutout to @flamboyant-prince, I like Kravice because he’s v relatable (see: buying too many hot pockets, not being able to cook, failing all classes), and I know I promised Narcissus would play nice but listen I came across this team in arena of a Niles, Frederick and Seliph yesterday (made me think of you) and unfortunately I had my steroid team with me

What I spent almost a week doing _(:3 」∠)_ + close ups - Behold, the character sheet for my summoner in Fire Emblem Heroes!! I spent so much time going around looking for good references and screenshotting the source opening movie. I made it as accurate as possible, so if anyone who comes across this and wants to cosplay as the FeHeroes summoner it can be used as a reference. I really hope no one will try to steal this art lmao. I’m not even that well known as an artist, but you never know! That’s why there’s four of my signatures all over the whole page. - EDIT: lmao i forgot the multiple photo posts on instagram aren’t supported on tumblr so I re uploaded it.
