Unhealthy Debit Card Attachment
I guess I forgot what it was like to rely solely on cash. The stress and uncertainty of whether or not you had enough for your purchase, if there was an ATM close by, all of the little things that come along with not relying on a debit card. My debit card is my lifeline. I figured out some years ago that if I had cash in my wallet it was all too easy to spend a dollar here, a few dollars there, and before I knew it all my money was gone and I genuinely had no idea where it had all gone. With my debit card, I never have to worry if I have enough money on me, and I'm forced to be more conscious of what I spend as I am reminded of every purchase (the ridiculous and the necessary) every night when I balance my checkbook. I wonder though, how healthy this attachment is. What if all of the computers crash one day, leaving me with no cash and no way of accessing my monies?? Then where will I be?! Maybe keeping a cash stash in an old coffee can isn't such a bad idea....
