So.. you guys think we’re getting a dvd/blu-ray/4k of Half man or?
Some self reflection (this is your warning if you’re not interested) : Watching Half man as a gay, transmasc individual was crazy ngl. Obviously Rubens not exactly a well adjusted individual or even a very good person and shouldn’t be a framework for healthy masculinity at all. That being said everytime teen Niall looked at Ruben like he hung the stars and moon for a sec or everytime adult niall would try to emulate Ruben’s behavior, I thought about teen me. I thought about what masculinity meant to me at that time. How I was desperately seeking male companionship and validation and thought the only way to get it was to act like a dick head. I was mad at myself for being even remotely feminine and I was making it other people’s problem. I eventually had a come to Jesus of sorts and actively work everyday in adulthood to try to not be a problem. I guess I just mean I’m really fucking glad (despite earlier posts I made) that this didn’t come out when I was a teenager. It would have done me way more harm than good. I’m glad I got to see it as an adult, one that is trying to constantly heal and be better, and for that can appreciate it a little more.
If one of you talented mother fuckers wants to perchance be a darling angel and gift me with a Half man edit to this song for pride month I would be forever grateful 🥹

Imma try to be open minded as possible about the “rockstar” aspect of The Vampire Lestat, but so far I’ve kind of been a little disappointed at the clips and stuff I’ve seen from previews and even the recent live show. While I do understand that both Sam and Lestat have theatre backgrounds, I fear this rockstar persona is leaning almost too hard into the polished nature of a broadway production. I kind of pictured something way more raw, and broody. Something messier. This feels so clean and tame. Like almost like a popstar announcing they’re making an album in the rock genre. Now you’re probably thinking, benny, there’s supposed to be influences of 70s glam rock in there. Sort of like David Bowie, marc bolan, Brian eno, etc. and while I do agree that those artist used theatrics, they weren’t as polished or as tame as this is. These were artists pushing the envelope at the time they were coming up. They still had a raw appeal to them. while I can hear some influence, the music written for the show feels too clean. Idk I’m just really not vibing with it at all. And who knows it might change when I actually watch the new season. I’m gonna try, it’s just I’m not too invested right now🤷🏻♂️.
Op ate with this one
HEALINGSSS
It’s like a family photo of two dads and the sons they’re incredibly proud of
Imma need you guys to stop posting and reblogging stills or whole portions of the scene where Niall and Ruben are laying on the floor smoking because every single time it gets to that frame of Stuart laying there with his arm covering his face and the cigarette dangling from his fingers and the sun wrapped around him, LITERAL tears come to my eyes. LIKE HE LOOKS ANGELIC. And maybe that was purposeful on Richard’s part to sort of show a “softer” side of Ruben and of their dynamic or it could have been accidental, BUT ITS BEAUTIFUL. THE CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR THIS SHOW IS GORGEOUS.
Y’all think Bryan fuller has seen half man? I just wonder….
Post half man watch and I kept thinking I had seen Stuart in something else only to realize he was in Sas rogue heroes which is the only series I watched prior to Halfman 😂
Still reeling over the whole King Rat thing. Like Ruben calls Niall the “king rat” and equates him to one. It’s meant to be a deep insult. But someone else also alluded to it being a reference to the phenomenon of Rat Kings. The idea that a bunch of rats huddle together for safety and warmth, only to wake up and find that they’re connected now by an inseparable knot. They can’t escape it. They don’t have the means to stop panicking and untie themselves. They are rats, so they see no other way out. They just give up and die wrapped up in each other.
WHAT A FUCKING ENDING. Like I think most of us already deducted what we were getting out of this last episode. WHAT A FUCKING RIDE. I almost puked like five times and was full fledge sobbing for that confession. I literally cannot vocalize how I’m feeling really but I love this show. THANK YOU RICHARD GADD! THANK YOU CAST AND CREW! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Also as stated in a previous post, my post show watch is green street hooligans (or green street). Please if you guys are fans of Half Man and love commentary on Masculinity and male closeness with homoerotic moments pls give this movie a watch! It’s a classic in my opinion and was on my mind while watching this show over the past couple of weeks!
Part of me lowkey understands the oasis girlies that are also Half man fans but not because I have any context for the oasis stuff but because the line “my eyes have always followed you around the room” in that one song by Noel Gallagher is very Niall and Ruben.
What my brain writes with literally two hours of sleep in the last two days:
Half man is really fucking cool because even the way fans have been having discourse about this show is a perfect representation of the content. The choosing sides. The questioning of morality and what that means to the individual. The way we make assumptions or opinions despite not getting a complete or linear picture. It’s almost like listening to a coworker you don’t know very well tell you their entire life story and you just have to trust that they’re being truthful or not leaving anything out. Naturally if you don’t know the coworker or any other individuals in their lives, it’s harder to know if they’re actually a Niall or a Ruben. Or a Lori, or an alby, or a Mona or an Ava etc. You just have to kind of trust that your coworker is a reliable narrator to their own life. And even then they’ll have their own subjective understanding of their own life. I’ve seen so many people have such black/white takes on this show without actually taking into account that the show is about BOTH the complexity and simplicity of human beings. We are at the same time very complex and very simple depending on circumstances. This show is not about THIS or THAT solely. It’s about BOTH or ALL. The title Half Man i feel very much represents the concept that Niall and Ruben are two halves to a whole man. That they are not just themselves but have become so enmeshed that existing as individuals is doing irreparable damage to both of them and therefore, doing damage to others around them.
I swear to GOD if the finale ends with Niall having killed Ruben and his final words are "he groped me" said in the most hollow and empty voice a man can muster after killing the obsession of his life, I WILL projectile vomit
Say sike rn …..
