I think that YA writers who make their characters strictly underage use that as a crutch to create more plot devices/drama. Maturity would prevent a lot of situations and make the new situations more interesting/complex. But that'd make them put more effort into their writing, God forbid

Thoughts on ACOTAR? I've been following a in depth review of it from Cary Can Read. I will say it's giving guilty pleasure vibes, horrible but in a captivating way. Or maybe the story is better than the writing? Damn now I gotta read it now...
