SPOH'14!
Well for this year's SP Open house, I helped to conduct a live TV show and demonstrate how everything worked behind the scenes!
Here are some pictures!
(ignore the huge pimple and my tired face pls >.<)
Behind the scenes!
And that is how it looks on video! Cool eh?
Hope you all enjoyed SPOH14! :D
Here's one: When asked about rumors that he owned a bakery, Shakespeare replied, 'It's much a-dough about muffin.'
Bakers trade bread recipes on a knead to know basis.
WANNA KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT SUNNY-SIDE-UP EGG?
FIRST YOU GET THE PAN HOT AS GOLLUM, NOW THAT HE’S RESTING IN THE FIERY PITS OF MOUNT DOOM.
GET A BIT OF BUTTER INTO THE PAN! MAYBE A TEASPOON. YOU THINK PRECISION MATTERS IN THIS SHIT? NO! IT DOESN’T! JUST DON’T PUT A SHIT-TON IN THERE.
PROTIP- CRACK YOUR EGG AGAINST A FLAT SURFACE, LIKE A COUNTER, INSTEAD OF AN EDGE. YOU’RE LESS LIKELY TO GET EGG SNOT ALL OVER THE PLACE LIKE A CLUMSY MOTHERFUCKER.
DIG YOUR THUMB INTO THE SHELL AND DROP YOUR EGGY DELIGHT INTO THE HOT BUTTER.
MAKE SURE THE EGG IS OFF TO ONE SIDE OF THE PAN, AND NOT IN THE CENTER! THIS IS PROBABLY EASY, AS MOST STOVETOPS WERE DESIGNED BY NON-PERFECTIONISTS, AND AREN’T PERFECTLY LEVEL.
WATCH IT WRIGGLE AROUND IN AGONY, AS THE HEAT DENATURES SOME PROTEINS AND CHANGES YOUR SNOTTY EGG SHIT INTO DELICIOUS EGG WHITES!
WHEN THE EGG WHITES ARE ALMOST COMPLETELY DONE, BUT YOUR YOLK IS STILL LOOKING RUNNIER THAN A VAMPIRE ON THE BUSINESS END OF A WINCHESTER’S GLARE, TIME FOR ACTION!
GRAB SOME WATER AND SLOSH SOME INTO THE PAN - ROUNDABOUT 3 TABLESPOONS.
IT’LL START HISSING AND SPITTING LIKE MAD, BUT YOU’VE GOTTA COVER UP THE PAN QUICK, SO ITS FURY CANNOT TOUCH YOUR PERFECT FACE.
KEEP IT COVERED FOR AROUND 20 SECONDS.
YOU’LL SEE THE LAST OF THE WHITES SOLIDIFYING OVER THE YOLK, CAPTURING IT LIKE THE LOVELY CARLIN CAPTURED MY VIKING HEART!
IF YOU LEAVE IT IN THERE FOR MUCH LONGER, THE YOLK WILL COOK AS WELL, AND THAT’S A DIFFERENT TYPE OF EGG!
ONCE YOUR EGG HAS REACHED PERFECTION, SPATULA THAT BAD BOSS ONTO YOUR PLATE~
WANT SOME SCIENCE TO GO WITH YOUR BREAKFAST?
THE ADDED WATER QUICKLY PRESSURE/STEAM-COOKS THE TOP OF YOUR EGG! BRILLIANT!
HAD YOU FLIPPED THE EGG, YOU WOULD HAVE HAD AN ‘over easy’ AND THAT LITTLE SHIT FUCKS ITSELF UP REAL EASY.
A good baker will rise to the occasion. It's the yeast she could do
A toast to her!
Hmmm.
Send me your best cake/baking related puns?
Hi! Just a question, where did you get those cupcakes in a box from?
HELLO! MY FIRST ASK YAY!
Those amazing cupcakes are from a bakery in Singapore called Spatula Bakery!
They are located at 216 Joo Chiat Road, #01-06 (it's quite a walk from Mr Teh Tarik)
For muslims, fear not because the bakery is Muslim-owned, so they ensure that the products used are halal!
You can visit their website here to know more!
Cupcakes from Spatula Bakery!
Speaking of social media and businesses, I think Spatula Bakery has the best social media marketing I have seen so far. Their instagram is always update with information on their menu for that day, and they also communicate to customers through that channel. The people at Spatula Bakery are also INCREDIBLY talented. I recommend this bakery 100%!
First day of school Vanilla cupcakes last semester. Thanks Shah!
This is another kind of rice pudding, from kebabs and curries, above mustafa centre. It had more of a south indian taste to it, and not that sweet. I honestly prefer Sufi's one though! :X
Sufi's!
Blueberry cheesecake
Banana, strawberry and chocolate chip ice cream
One fine day, while I was deciding what to bake next, my sister sent me a link to this recipe and said, "Please bake this one day, it looks so good."
What she didn't know was, the very next day was payday.
So here we go. Red velvet cheesecake brownies. So good.
Recipe from: Foodies TV
Ingredients:
Red Velvet Brownies
1/2 cup butter
2-Oz dark chocolate
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Cream Cheese layer
8-oz cream cheese
1/3 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 160ºC.
2. Melt the chocolate and butter together.
bubble and boil, oh magic stew
3. After this has boiled, set it aside to cool it for a while. Mix sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and red food colouring.
4. Add in the chocolate mixture, then slowly add the flour and salt until no dry streaks. Mix well.
5. Now pour this batter into a greased pan.
6. For the cheesecake mixture, beat the cream cheese, egg, sugar and vanilla extract together until it becomes smooth. Distribute this over the batter and swirl it in with a knife! (or spatula)
Okay folks, now from the picture you can see that the cream cheese is too thick right? That's just on the surface! Make sure that the cream cheese reaches inside too!
7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the brownie is set. When you insert a knife or fork into the mixture it should be clean!
Enjoy!
Everyone really enjoyed this. Overall: 3/5!
My Life in DMC
Hello everyone! It's nearing towards SP's Open House season, where we get to meet and see potential students for the new school year, and walk them through courses that they would be interested in.
Let me just talk about what the Diploma in Media and Communication (DMC) is about. I like to say that SP's Media and Communication course is different from other polytechnics in the sense that there is a brief overview of all the aspects of Media, basically advertising, video production, radio production, public relations, event management, journalism, and even minor influences from subjects like business and psychology, however it leans more towards the business aspects of media.
Besides just studying, we also do have fun! At DMC, we ensure that all of us are a family and therefore we have a lot of fun bonding with each other through a multitude of activities! For example, there is an annual event for DMC known as DMC connect, where usually there is a theme for all classes to dress to and performances by each class! For my first year the theme for my class was Hawaii!!!!
We won the best-dressed class!
Another event we recently held was the DMC Trick-or-Treat, which was really fun too! The year 2s had banded together to scare the year 1s! One of the year 1 students said that she had never screamed so much in her life. Haha!
And this was a picture from the station I was in charge of. Scary innit?
But yeah, I do have a lot of fun in DMC, the people, the teachers, even the place, it's all so vibrant! It really reflects the spirit of DMC in every way. If you want to find out more about what we can do, come down to the DMC booth at Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre from the 9-11 Jan 2014. See youuuuuuuu bye!
Haiya, Matcha!
