Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him):

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“You burn, you burn (i.e., with sins). Then when you perform the Fajr prayer, it washes them away. Then you burn, you burn; and when you perform the Dhuhr prayer, it washes them away. Then you burn, you burn; and when you perform the Asr prayer, it washes them away. Then you burn, you burn; and when you perform the Maghrib prayer, it washes them away. Then you burn, you burn; and when you perform the Isha prayer, it washes them away. Then you sleep, and nothing is recorded against you until you wake up.”

مَنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْكُمْ آمِنًا فِي سِرْبِهِ، مُعَافًى فِي جَسَدِهِ، عِنْدَهُ قُوتُ يَوْمِهِ، فَكَأَنَّمَا حِيزَتْ لَهُ الدُّنْيَا بِحَذَافِيرِهَا

‏"ومن تمام حُسْنِ الظَّنِّ باللهِ أنْ يستقرَّ في قلبِكَ أنَّه لا خيرَ لكَ في شيءٍ مُنِعْتَ عنه، وأنَّ رحمةَ اللهِ بالحِرمان لا تقِلُّ عن رحمته بالعطاء".

"Among the perfection of having a good opinion of Allah is to firmly believe in your heart that there is no good for you in anything you are deprived of, and that Allah's mercy in withholding is no less than His mercy in granting."

يَا مُحَمَّدُ عِشْ مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ، وَأَحْبِبْ مَنْ شِئْتَ فَإِنَّكَ مُفَارِقُهُ، وَاعْمَلْ مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنَّكَ مَجْزِيٌّ بِهِ، وَاعْلَمْ أَنَّ شَرَفَ الْمُؤْمِنِ قِيَامُهُ بِاللَّيْلِ، وَعِزَّهُ اسْتِغْنَاؤُهُ عَنِ النَّاسِ

O Muhammad, live as long as you wish, for indeed you will die. Love whomever you wish, for indeed you will part from them. Do whatever you wish, for indeed you will be recompensed for it. And know that the honor of the believer is his standing in prayer at night, and his dignity is his independence from people.

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“The one whose soul craves disobedience but he leaves it for Allāh, those are the ones who Allāh tested their hearts with piety and for them is forgiveness and a tremendous reward."

“إن أرادَ اللّٰه بعبْدِه خيرًا، سَلب رؤية أعمالِه الحسنه مِن قلبه، وشغلهُ برؤية ذنبِه، فلا يزالُ نُصبَ عيْنيه، حتّى يَدخل الجنّة.”

“If Allah intends good for His servant, He removes from his heart the sight of his good deeds and occupies him with the awareness of his sins. Thus, his sins remain before his eyes until he enters Paradise.”
