As if Caleb's past wasn't sad enough I started thinking about how when he fled Vergesson he ran out to a world that had progressed 11 years since he last saw any of it, the feeling of the sun on his skin and the wind through his hair that he'd been deprived of for so long being the only comfort for him. He ran for his life into a world that had forgotten Bren Ermendrud and had moved on without him.
