Description: The Lanter Man, also referred to as the god of perished, is a multi-dimensional creature that dwells in multiple realities. To determine if his activity is impossible, as Lanterman leaves behind no traces, no memories in people that he has visited. Lanter Man's appearance has been roughly mapped out through multiple patients' reports. He's known to wear a grey wool overcoat and carry a pack of matches and smoke moss wicks. He appears as a young Caucasian male, around 27-30 years old, with silver hair that absorbs light. Reports regarding the Lanter Man's eyes have been inconsistent. Each individual reported a different set of eyes, some saying he has scented candles for eyes, others saying that he is blind, and some said he has the night sky for eyes. No patient has reported the same description of the eyes twice; however, all of the patients tended to go into great detail while describing Lantern Man's eyes.
About fifty three percent of the patients reported hearing his voice. All of the descriptions were identical. All of the patients who remembered his voice described it as a soothing, lullaby-like presence. As if his voice had an independent body. Many said he sounded apologetic. Patients who have reported remembering a conversation usually state the main object of their conversation to be reflections of their emotions, where they recall telling the Lanter Man their happiest memories.
The Lanter Man is known to be tasked to snuff out souls. While we aren't sure of the source of his origin, the under-branch of our hospital, the Bureau of Extraordinary, has classified him as a Daimon rather than a Chronobios due to ancient activity that's been traced far before the Hadean aeon.
One can only speculate about his visit through a sense of grief and emptiness. People who have been suspected of being visited by him tend to report feeling out of place. This feeling is usually followed by a form of longing for home. Patients were unable to describe the "home" they miss. At least nine in ten patients end up feeling like an exile their whole lives, and spend the rest of their lives plunged in heavy depression, looking for a "home" they have never known. Four out of ten patients reported having resorted to self-harming behaviour and substance abuse, and they have been labelled as a danger to themselves. One out of ten patients commits suicide.
There is no known cure to Lantern Man's effect; however, six out of ten patients reported signs of improvement through regular therapy.
