Buh-bye Tumblr
I’ve never really been into the blog kind of thing. I don’t really browse a lot of other Tumblr blogs. This blog really is just a copy of what I post on Instagram. Pictures with a small story, hopefully interesting.
However, as I was reviewing my account settings, I discovered I had a blocked post. Really? It turns out one image of my Dad eating at a restaurant was flagged as adult content that violated community guidelines. Seriously? I guess this is what happens when inept developers try to implement AI to police the internet. Well done, Tumblr developers. Well done. While I have appealed the ban of the picture of my frail, 82-year-old father, taken just 4 months before he died and precious to me for the moment it captured, it really is pointless. I shouldn’t have had to appeal.
I realize now that the Tumblr owners/management/rule-makers have jumped the shark. I have heard that Tumblr usage has been declining. It makes sense. You get the wrong people in charge making the wrong rules and nobody wants to play with them anymore. Time to pick up our marbles and head home.
So I will decouple my Instagram from Tumblr and no longer contribute.
Good-bye cruel world!
