If you're wondering why Gyro is holding a teddy bear, here's the explanation:

The teddy bear Gyro is holding in this scene from the game represents his dead mom. Her name was Eleanor Gearloose and this is her:

About Eleanor (or Sonia):

She was the beautiful wife of Fulton Gearloose and the mother of Gyro Gearloose. She is kind, loving, soft-spoken, and emotionally warm. Eleanor is portrayed as a very delicate person, often prone to getting fevers and sickness, but her gentle nature deeply endears her to Fulton. Eleanor and Fulton fall in love after months of heartfelt conversation and bonding. Their relationship blossoms into a tender, passionate love. They get married and buy a house together and they dream of a beautiful life as a family.

However, fate had other plans. She becomes pregnant with their son, Gyro. During labor, she struggles for hours in pain, trying to bring her son onto the world. After giving birth to Gyro and seeing her newborn son for the first time, both the fevers and childbirth overwhelmed her and died shortly after. Gyro grew up never knowing who she is, never hearing her voice, or what she looks like in person. When Gyro was 17, he would constantly blame himself for his mother's death, but it's not true, because Eleanor loved him and Fulton would reassure him all the time, that Gyro is not the cause of Eleanor's death.

lastly, the teddy bear become his emotional security object, something he clings to when he feels overwhelmed, lonely, or frightened. His father gave the bear to him after Eleanor died.
