“Oh, please,” Penn rolled his eyes. “I hate my name. Like I’d be stupid enough to pass it on. As soon as I’m 18, I’m going to legally change my name to Penn Lake. And I am definitely not naming any sons after me.”

Penn is a bit of a cynic, though he tries not to be. It’s just that he can’t help it. Having your father abandon your family because you have magic and he’s afraid you’ll ruin his career will do that. He has little tolerance for anyone who thinks a career is more important than people. He is protective of his mother, younger siblings, and his cousin. He’s just afraid that one day, like his father, he too will lose sight of what is truly important.
