callum isn’t the brightest tool in the toolshed and he’s completely okay with that. he’s always known he wasn’t exactly on the same level as his peers when it comes to book smarts and of course it used to bother him a little, not really understanding sometimes what the people around him were saying but he quickly got over it because ignorance is bliss. while his book learning might not be on the level it should be, his street smarts always seem to surprise people. after highschool, callum and his band spent three years just touring around the country. bouncing from one shitty tiny club to the next shitty tiny club. a lot of those areas housed seedy people or created unsafe situations so they had to learn quickly how to navigate without getting mugged or stabbed sometimes.

callum only agreed to attend preston after a rather large fight with his band which ended up causing them to split up so he finally decided that now was better than ever to finally give his parents what they wanted. they weren’t exactly happy with their son living in a van and going to possibly dangerous locations just for a very small crowd. they had been pushing preston on him since he graduated high school, knowing the military always knows how to straighten people out and they believe callum needs more structure in his life so maybe he’ll find a purpose in life that isn’t singing in dingy dangerous clubs.
