You Had One Job {Open!}
One condition in this new world was to maintain a day based activity. The choices had a variety to say the least, from working at a fine establishment to continuing learning as a student. Hinata, far from the most studious high school student out there, often preserved a decent enough grade to stay in the volleyball team, choose a different route. After a large portion of the day wasted from this tedious selection of a job he had to maintain, he finally came to a conclusion. He was going to be a mascot.
Yes, a mascot. The poor sap who was suckered into wearing some obscure suit for perhaps a sports team or some company as their company symbol. Why would someone willing choose such a career? The first year was certainly a ball of energy, one that had to expel the energy and didn’t have the finest people skills. He always found the mascot idea appealing and something that he could do effortlessly and achieve sells on top of that. At this very moment, the boy was outside the local Domino’s Pizza in a giant pizza slice costume with coupons in his hands.
“Please come to Domino’s Pizza tonight! We’re offering a buy one large pizza and get the second one half price! It’s only for tonight though!” With his free hand, he waved a coupon up in the air, his voice naturally loud brought up a few notches to reach more people and a smile plastered on his face. Genuine smiles and a clear voice were only two ways to get noticed by the costumes.
A sudden gust of wind plucked up, sweeping up some papers from the stack and the one suspended in the air. An audible gasp escaped from him as his eyes locked on the papers that were above him. If his attention was a little more broad, he may have seen the person that was near him, walking. As soon as he turned and started to run in the direction of the airborne papers, he rammed right smack into the person. He fell back and released the papers in instinct.
“I’m so sorry about that! That was completely my fault! I should’ve paid attention to everywhere like right in front of me!” He blurted out, his expression one of shock and utter embarrassment. What an idiot move! He was supposed to attract customers, not run into them! What a funny sight for anyone who was present to see a giant pizza slice slam right into another person.
Having been here for a while, one might think that someone with a somewhat decent sense of direction like him, if he may say so himself, would know his way around Iunctum pretty well. In practice, however, the city is the most awful place to navigate he's ever seen and he'll be damned if he'll ever get used to the amount of streets and roads and dead ends this place has.
The fact that he can't find any kind of map doesn't help in the slightest.
He sighs, running his hand through his hair. One wrong turn and he's found himself in a part of the city he's never seen before, staring at streets lined up with restaurants with names he's never heard of and trying to ignore the smells coming from said restaurants. He's hungry as it is and his stomach doesn't need this kind of torture.
With another sigh, he puts his cap back on and treads on forward down the road, sliding his hands into his pockets. If he could get lost by taking a wrong turn, he can take another turn and find the right way eventually, right? Right. While his sense of direction has failed him a few times already, he still trusts it enough (along with his dumb luck) to make use of it.
And, well, if that fails, the time is still early enough that there are people on the streets, so. There you go.
The sudden gust of wind and the swarm of sheets of paper it swept up catch him off guard; he can't help but wonder which poor soul this happened to. If they're nearby, then he can probably spare some time to help them--
oof
--or so he would, but a weird triangle-shaped... thing had just rammed straight into him.
Arceus what is this.
Upon closer examination, he realises that it's a boy in a costume who's now profusely apologising for bumping into him.
Calem supposes it's better than a car, but he digresses.
「No, no, it's okay! Accidents happen, it's fine. 」 He waves his hand dismissively, shaking his head. The boy's light (and short) enough that the impact had surprised him more than it had hurt. Moreover, the other had dropped all of the papers he'd been holding, some of them already taken by the wind.
「 More importantly... Y'need help picking this up? 」 He gestures vaguely to the mess with one hand, rubbing his neck with the other.
