“Alright. Wife.” He tests the word and finds that he likes it, leading her out and to their car.
“Thank you. Husband.” She retorts with a soft laugh while getting into the car.
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
_FAST FORWARD_
It doesn’t feel any different, being married. After all is said and done, after they’ve exchanged rings and signed the papers. He stares down at Gracie, officially his wife. “So…where do you want to go for the reception?”
She thought it might feel heavier, maybe like literal shackles. But it doesn’t. It feels as comfortable as it always has and she’s relieved by that. “Anywhere with giant steaks because I’m ready to about fifty.”
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
“Pretty sure I’m only suppose to be holding on to these while they’re moving but…” He shrugs again. Family heirlooms were meant to be used by family, right? And it’s not like his grandparents didn’t already have enough physical wealth. “Alright, anything else before we go down to the court house?”
“Nope. We’ve got each other, rings, a dress. I think we’re ready to get married.” It sounded crazy, absolutely bonkers, but all of the butterflies she felt were more excitement than nerves.
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
“Beautiful.” He automatically says, kissing her soundly, “-except I think It’s suppose to be bad luck that I’m seeing you in it…oh well.” Zeph shrugs lazily, holding out his hand with a smile. On his palm are two rings, his simple and silver lines whilst her is far more eye-catching. “They’re something I found while looking in the loot.” A fond word one might call his hallway closet. Where he had shoved all the boxes his grandfather had sent to him.
“Bad luck is all bullshit anyway.” Gracie pulls him in and steals another quick kiss before looking at the rings. “They’re perfect, I love them.” They really are both so beautiful, and him finding them definitely lends credence to her previous statement.
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
“Then. Let’s do it. I’ll grab the appointment, you put on a dress and we’ll buy some rings on the way there.”
“Deal.” Gracie heaves herself off of the couch and goes to the closet, already knowing the dress she’ll wear. Her mum bought it for her as a joke while saying something about a shotgun wedding. It wasn’t serious in the slightest which maybe made it even funnier that she literally was wearing it to get married now. Of course under it she has cozy boot for her sore feet instead of heels, but still. Coming back out, she raises her arms in a showy way. “What do you think?”
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
“We could.” He admits, “I mean, it’s early enough and I know a guy.” Because of course he does. “All we’d have to do is stop by and pick out some rings somewhere.”
“I just like the idea of being married to you, words I never really thought I’d say, so how we get there doesn’t really matter.” It would take all of the stress off of someone potentially finding out as well which is another bonus in her book.
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
Zeph pulls a face, “God no. No, family.” He instantly agrees, “Could you even imagine how much we’d have to put into just on seating arrangements? No, sorry. I love you very much, but I do not have the energy for that. Ever.”
“I love you, too, I mean I’d definitely fight a bear for you that’s how much I love you. Bu I would not put up with our families for you and I’m glad we’re in agreement.” Glad and so relieved and reminded just why they work all at once. “We could just...get it done now. I mean it’s easier than being engaged and surname for this little accident would be even easier to deal with without grandparents fighting. Would that be crazy though?”
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
“So. We just do the first part. We get married.” He breaks out into a soft grin. Pleased with the idea and the fact that his voice didn’t weaver or crack. “-and maybe, if you ever decide you can’t stand my stupid face or whatever, you’re already half way through getting that sweet, sweet alimony.”
“Agreed, definitely sounds like a good deal to me.” She pulls him in close to kiss him softly, smiling happily despite all the discomfort, it’s not bothering her so much now. “But no big ceremony. Our families are too much. I just want it to be you and me, okay?”
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
It’s on the tip of his tongue to continue their little banter, but something makes him pause and replay her words. A bubble of worry comes up his throat, it’s not something they really discussed. Not since the initial finding out of her being knocked up. Zeph grabs her hand and locks their fingers together, “ You’d get a lot more if you were my wife.”
“You’re not wrong...” Gracie swallows, more than a little taken aback. Truthfully the idea of ever being tied to one person seemed horrifying and pointless. But with Zeph it just seems...easy. “But I’d have to divorce you to get all of that and I don’t think I’d ever wanna do that.”
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
“Might be.” He shrugs, “I mean, if I’m only having one. I’m going to be interested in it’s development. Might as well take it to the next step.” If he really thinks on it, he finds he doesn’t mind at all. One kid would be easy enough to learn and handle, to give enough attention without worrying about how it might effect it’s siblings (like his own family).
“Well technically you could run off an have more,” Gracie points out with a grin, “you’re not legally bound to me. But I know how rich your family is and I would totally try to gouge you for child support.” She’s teasing clearly, unable to keep a straight face as she rubs her belly which she swears feels like it’s growing every second.
Take Me To Church
zephy-delacroix:
Zeph snorts at her, amused but trying not to outright show it. He slumped down from his previous reading position and met her eyes. “That’s fine, if we only have one. I for one would like to see the effects being a single child.”
“So our little mistake is turning into an experiment for you?” Gracie questions with a laugh before leaning over just enough to kiss his temple. “Not that I’m not curious about the results, don’t get me wrong.”
Take Me To Church
Gracie was due to pop in a couple of months and quite frankly this baby better be the cutes thing in existence because she’s beyond exhausted. For about the thousandth time since getting pregnant she wondered how her mum had done this a million times. “This is it,” she declares while rolling onto her side, “I’m never having another one. Anyone who does this more than once is in-fucking-sane and needs to have their bloody head checked. ‘cept my mum because I love her even if she is looney.”

“Gross.” Libby mutters under her breath. “What do you want to order? Because I might be your helper bitch, but I ain’t cooking.”
“Keep talking like that and karma’s gonna knock you up too,” Gracie warns with a laugh. “Pizza with like all of the meat on it. And cheese in the crust.”

wild-wolf-child:
“Yeah, yeah I know. now stop it before we have a moment okay?” Libby edges for a joking manner despite feeling warm and fuzzy. “You still have a few hours at least of me playing house elf.”
“I can’t help it. Pregnancy brain has me a little more open an honest with my warm fuzzy feelings. It’ll pass eventually.” Now that the room is actually looking like a proper nursery, Gracie can think about something else. “Food first, then we can put together the playpen.”
pride on the line
wild-wolf-child:
“Fair enough I mean…I think I get that better now than I ever could before Apollo…” She admits, “I mean the rest of us were so reckless about it…probably meant that it was all going to burn out anyways. It’s probably better you two hid it, made it more serious and precious.”
“It just made it easier. You and Apollo, for what it’s worth, I don’t think it was a mistake. I mean I don’t know about him, but I’d be willing to bet you both got just what you needed and learned what you had to learn from it, even if it ended. Zeph and I...I think we just fit...and we got lucky to find each other at the right time. You’ll get luck too, maybe Mason is right, maybe you and Apollo will eventually be right, or maybe you’ll surprise us all and end up with a woman.” Gracie smiles, setting down the now empty bucket and turning to her sister. “As long as you end up happy, that’s all that matters, right?”
pride on the line
wild-wolf-child:
“You wanted to know!” Libby laughs, “-and it’s less gross than most of our family. At least I got to my room and closed the door….plus who knows what you and Zeph got up to under our noses.” She points to Libby’s belly, “Not like you got that by playing checkers together.”
“Oh please, you act like we were carrying on for years behind your backs. Reality is, it was only a month maybe. And the craziest thing that happened most certainly didn’t happen in a house where either of our parents were present.” Not because they were prudes, Gracie just seemed to have missed out on the public sex gene the rest of her family had. “We might have told people eventually. But things between our families...” She trails off, giving her sister a shrug, “it’s always been complicated. We wanted a chance to figure out if it was even anything at all. Which would have been impossible if all of you knew.”
pride on the line
wild-wolf-child:
For a second, Libby attempts to be coy but quickly realizes bitting her tongue makes her look even more guilt. “I don’t know what you’re talking about…” She pretends to be interested in the little folded onesies, but can feel her sister’s heavy gaze. “Oh my god, okay yes it is and his name is Mason and I dragged him up stairs during one of mom’s dinners.”
“Oh. My. God. You are so gross!” Gracie grabs a little pair of socks that’s been rolled carefully and throws it at her sister. “That’s definitely a welcome he’ll never forget. And another reason for me to keep avoiding family dinners.”
