Imagine getting into a fight with your best friend David Dobrik
You sat out on the front steps of the guy you just went out on a date with’s house. Sitting there with tear stained cheeks and a bruised hand you waited for your best friend David to come and pick you up.
David warned you about this guy. He told you not to go out with him because he was only using you for sex. But of course being the naive stupid girl you didn’t believe him and went out with him anyway. David hasn’t talked to you since you told him you were going out with him anyway. You weren’t even sure he was coming to get you.
But about two minutes later David’s Tesla pulled up to the curb and there was David standing in front of you. You hesitantly looked up at him. He was wearing black basketball shorts, and a black ‘too much Scotty’ t-shirt. He looked tired. Well, of course, he was tired. It was 3am in the fucking morning.
“I didn’t think you were going to come,” You muttered as you looked back at the ground.
“Yeah, well everyone would be pissed at me if I just left you here,” David said. You scoffed as you looked up at him.
“You know what whatever you can go. I’ll call an uber or something,” You said standing up as you pulled out your phone.
“(Y/N), I was kidding. Of course, I came. And whoa, what happened to your hand?” David asked. You looked at your bloody knuckles.
“I punched him,” you whispered.
“What? You mean the guy I told you not to go out with? Did he try to do something to you? Why didn’t you tell me that?” David said walking over to you and carefully grabbing your hand to look at the damage. His fingers tentatively grazed over the cuts and your breath hitched at his touch.
“Because believe it or not David I’d rather not hear about how you were right or ‘i told you so’ because that stuff pisses me off,” You said pulling your hand away. David pressed his lips together.
“Just get in the car. I’ll take you home,” He said as he walked back towards his car. You sighed but followed him and hopped into the passenger seat.
Most of the drive back to your place was silent. Except for the radio that was turned down so low that you could practically hear the frustration from both you and David.
“I don’t know why you went out with him in the first place. Was it just because I told you not to?” David asked as he pulled up to a red light. You glared at him.
“No, I went out with him because I thought he actually liked me. But heaven forbids a guy actually likes me for me. I thought he wanted to get to know me, David. So fuck you for thinking the world revolves around you,” You yelled as you crossed your arms over your chest. For a few moments, there was just silence.
“I should’ve just stayed home and slept,” David whispered running a hand through his dark brown hair. You looked over at him and felt your eyes start to water. He didn’t care about you or anything. And you felt bad for saying the things you did.
David pulled up to your apartment building and put the car in park. You both sat there not really knowing what to do. You could just get out and not say anything. But you didn’t want to leave and you didn’t want David to leave. You wanted him to stay. You wanted him to be there for you. You looked over at him to find he was staring out the windshield.
“David-” You started to say but he cut you off.
“I’ll walk you to the door,” He said and got out of the car.
When you got to the door of your apartment you stood in front of David, both of you on either side of the welcome mat.
“David, I didn’t mean anything about what I said in the car,” You said looking up at him. David’s eyes flickered from your lips to yours. He took a step closer to you.
“And I know you want to go home and you want to sleep. But I really don’t want to be alone tonight,” You said as you let out a shaky laugh. You looked at the ground waiting for him to decline your offer. David’s hand carefully reached for yours and intertwined your fingers with his. You looked up at him and searched his eyes, confused on why he was holding your hand.
“If you want me to stay the answer is yes,” He whispered taking another step towards you. He took the hand that wasn’t holding yours and brushed the hair away from your face, cupping your cheek. His eyes stayed locked with yours as his lips turned into a small smile. He pulled you forward, your body pressing into his as his lips connected with yours. You smiled into the kiss as you both pulled away, his forehead leaning against yours.
“I know you don’t want to hear this but I told you that guy wasn’t right for you,” David said. You laughed and pulled away from him.
“Shut up,” you said as you both walked into your apartment.
