Missing Kenan Kong like a MOTHERFUCKER. Can't believe they deadass forced him away from China and all his friends and family there only to delegate him as a background character in the superfam and they never have him reminisce on his home and how he was forced to leave it because otherwise his friend and possibly more ppl (Baixi/Bat-Man of China) would have died because Lex Luthor installed a chip into everyone's brain when they discovered Superman (Clark's) identity that would explode. 1. Him & the Justice League of China have a fanclub that modded them into DC's version of Mortal Kombat

2. Him, Jon, & Kon like to watch horror movies and play video games together. This is where they state he learns English* from once he is stuck in Metropolis.

2.5 In Knight Terrors: Action Comics, Kenan, Kon, Natasha & the Super twins also watch horror movies together

3. He calls the super twins "super children i like very much" (this was in his early days when he didn't know that much English but I have faulty memory so im p sure he still does refer to them as super children)

*he speaks Mandarin and literally everyone else in the Justice League of China (iirc) could also speak English. He couldn't speak that much English because he actively flunked his English classes. During this time that's referenced in these panels, his mentor was his translator (in the above panels, Baixi's robot, Robinbot is Kenan's translator)

I've seen a bunch of "fandom etiquette" posts on my dash today and I'm going to say something that is maybe going to be unpopular but;

The absolutely pervasive mentality that unwanted criticism or critique shouldn't be given and should be ignored is why fans of color don't stay in fan spaces.

And I am not going to mince words here:

A lot of you are racist. A lot of your fan works are racist.

That might have been difficult to hear. And if it was, you should probably reflect on why that was.

"Fandom etiquette" has created a space where fans of color either bite our tongues and eventually leave or say something, get dogged on, and then eventually leave.

So much of "fandom etiquette" seems to be about insulating creatives from Feeling Bad and hostility to any kind of negative feedback is a pretty big contributor to why bigotry festers in these spaces.

Because being fridged is something much more than dying or getting maimed for a man's character development. It's the fact that unless they have writers who advocate and write for them, they're doomed to never return or be weakened forever/a long time. And we seen how these narratives go where writers don't know what to do with them then

Male characters do die, yes, but usually, unlike women, get revived or are seen as an inspiration/given more of a story depth regarding their death and their personhood.

Ngl u gotta agree to some degree it's hella weird at least half (from what I've seen) of Kon's fanbase sees him as a SA survivor but then one of his most popular ships has an AU where it requires his DNA to be used unconsensually to make a child and most of the iterations of said AU never address this because it's all about poor little Timmy and his wittle sorrows.
