Cry cards! With a stamp on the back that says “please write down the last time you cried.”
Laser cut wood block
Linoleum block, second edition carving, with color.
Copper plate second edition with aquatint
Monoprint experiments from late last night.
First proof of my copper plate, first proof of my laser cut woodblock.
This is my first proof of my linocut. Featuring little me and the hydrangeas.
This is a clip from one of my recent performances in the Video Studio in the Duderstadt Center, featuring my cranky puppet. This piece was called “A Script for Play; on nesting” and was another iteration of my plays, which the self is placed as the main character.
Today I started a new monoprint project-a tarot deck based on my past selves.
-Home
-The Elder Woman
-The Sister
-The Hostess
-The Maker
-The Performer
-The Musician’s Girlfriend
-The Valedictorian Puppet
Tomorrow I hope to create potential future selves for the deck.
Today I made another little book. This is an accordion style fold, one side typed on my typewriter, the other side monoprinted.
A Script for Play
-on meaning and repetition.
Last night I repurposed a test monoprint I had done on newsprint. I typed out a series of lists on my type writer on vellum-
objects on my desk,
places I’ve lived vs. hair colors
my family tree explained
& something about a restraining order
I folded the print like a little book and placed these texts on different pages. I made a monoprint of small objects from those lists, some literal, some not, and placed those in the pages too.
I am 22 years old and I finally make my bed every single day. Here is a little book I made about it. A single page, typed on my typewriter, folded, carrots added.
A collection of experiments building color from the past few days in the studio.
A collection of experiments from a late night in the studio.
Luther is now on display for the month of October at MIX on Michigan Ave in Ypsilanti.
Here is a clip from my performance in the Detroit Fringe Forward Festival, last weekend. This is my ten foot paper mache puppet friend named Luther, currently continuing his tour in Ypsilanti.
Here is a tiny peek into a piece I made this summer. This video accompanies my partner’s newest album “Not About Nightingales.” I collected a series of vignettes from the lyrics of the album and created a cranky puppet show, that was shown at the album release party on our shared birthday. The entire video/album can be found on youtube, link is at the bottom. While Eric built the cranky theater, I considered ways to experiment with the “time” involved in cranky puppetry. I was interested in how the images are shown in a linear sequence, rolling out of a long sheet wrapped around a dowel. However the puppeteer can manipulate time depending on the speed the roll of paper is cranked, the sequence of the drawn images, introducing projection and shadow puppetry. This piece was an experiment in cranky puppetry inspired by the duet Anna and Elizabeth and as always Bread and Puppet Theater.
