I guess he was playing fetch at a caber competition. :S
Spotted this lovely bird and contrary to my usual luck, it stayed still long enough for me to get some pictures!
So I went back to that chute I found... :I
(July 16 on the right, July 30 on the left)
Water levels are a pain, I should have expected it given that the river has a water level control damn at the top of it. I did find this neat tool though to track the levels in the future. 25cm less water can make a big difference in a set.
(It’s not actually the water levels that affect it but rather the rate of change of the water levels. The faster the drop on the graph the more fun during that drop.)
I’ll be back. >.>
They don't even know :P
Parent: You left these [clothes] in the car, go put them in your closet. (turns to walk away) Me: I'm not sure there'll be space with me already in there... Parent: Hmm? Me: Hmm? Oh, nothing.
Instructions unclear.
My younger brother is doing a summer school/ highschool prep thing at his soon to be highschool and they let some of the students mess around with the school's newly acquired 3D printers. He printed and brought home these awesome little Pokemon miniatures that someone designed. Apparently other students are hiding them at pokestops around the community which I think is really nice. As if people needed more incentive to obsessively grind the same few 'stops! :P
Caught a vole that had been living in the filing cabinet at work. ’s cute and fluffy but could not stay :( let it go in some bushes a ways off.
Joys of an outdoor office :P
Cottage cat
Up at the cottage for the weekend so I went on a little scouting expedition.
Beautiful day with not many bugs.
Found this awesome little chute. Wasn’t prepared to run it, but I definitely want to! OwO
Come back with full gear and some friends to spot when I get the chance. (Safety third :P )
My foot was ok, it’s been getting better quickly which is good.
Bad good bad good good bad, it'll be fine
I broke my foot playing volleyball. I still have full range of motion in my toes and ankle. I work at an outdoors camp, Primarily focused on canoeing, so I'll be sitting, kneeling or floating for a decent portion of the time. A co-worker found a wheelchair in a dumpster last year and it is now the "company vehicle" so that might come in handy. I'm not sure I can carry canoes across a beach in a wheelchair. I've pushed through worse! u_u
My main study tool for the astrophysics course I took. u_u
Drew for practice and stuff.
It better rain, otherwise I look like a giant past due creamsicle for nothing. :P
I actually really like that orange.
Drew my dragon guy, thing. Getting better. Neck is a bit long and how the hell do you draw hands?
I could use some time up in a tree. Like, just a couple months, or years. XD
An upset Newfoundlander called 911 to report her pizza didn't have enough cheese, police say.
Un-cheesy pizza is criminal. XD
I’m Never What I like
(Not quite never, just wanted to make a song reference)
A while ago I gave a lot of thought to the way a person will act differently depending on who they’re around. For example, you wouldn’t act the same way around a potential employer as you would around your friends (excluding cases where these are the same person -_- ). Now, while this can show the extent of the change, it doesn’t really give a feel the the real nature of it. Of course you behave differently around employers, but that can be a conscious choice, “acting professional”, the interesting part of it is when you do it automatically. What could give a better sense of this is the way you act around your friends vs the way you act around your family. A friend of mine had never noticed until I pointed it out but he actually used a totally different voice to talk to his family.
So the change can be significant and subconscious. You can behave like a totally different person and still be genuinely you. Like having different versions of oneself.
More recently I’ve had this off-shoot of that idea:
What if you’re not happy with some of those versions though? Not all of them, that’s a different problem. You have settings, people you’re around, where you are a version of yourself you are happy with, proud of, but it doesn’t seem to carry. When it’s a subconscious change in behavior, how do you stay the version of you you’re happy with? It’s frustrating and confusing and common and a pain in the ass when you’re trying to get to know new people.
I imagine it could be a matter of practice, conditioning, some built up level of comfort, whatever. First impressions are probably a pain no matter what and it would be quite something to always be happy with yourself. I just wish I had a bit more control over it (join the club, right?).
I’ve been seeing a lot of tweets and posts about how the new Pokemon game is “handholding players” or “catering to kids” because of the new features of showing you what moves are super effective and tracking status effects/boosts.
Like, did everyone forget that the games demographic is the younger crowd???
Adding to this, do y'all forget what a pain in the ass it is to track things like how many Calm Minds the opponent used or the typing every single pokemon has? There are 700+, don’t tell me you remember every single one of them.
Like, why y'all gotta be salty at quality of life improvements? A+ Nintendo for making the game easier to get into and streamlining the UI.
I haven't seen what's going on, are they just adding something like the hover over info that displays on Showdown? Cause that is just really convenient stuff to have, even for a long time player.
design commission for @inkblot-fox!
