This is Ilia, as the Golden Eagle. Along with Hogan they will discover the truth and kick the bad guys’ butts in “Hogan and the scourge of Icknog”

Here I present you Spit and Spat, two mean pitbulls from “Hogan and the scourge from Icknog”, Cay Gee’s novel. It was a pleasure illustrating the characters!

Meet Hogan, a golden dog out of this world - literally! He uses his powers to restore order in the universe. Gouache on paper. This conceiving this character on paper was challenging but fun! “Hogan and the scourge of Icknog” is a novel by Cay Gee. You can find out more at www.hoganebooks.com
So I asked my luggage, “do we have inks?” “Yes”, it answered. “Paper?” “Yes” “Time?” “Uh, eh…” “Then why not Inktober?” Jumping on the #inktober bandwagon. Running late already. Number 1: #swift . But why draw a swift when you can draw a swift parrot? These guys are critically endangered and face extinction by 2031.

Inktober number 6, Sword. Or half a sword to be honest. Different type of scroll here, not the heavy style I often do. I think the concept is good, but I did poor planning with the shading. Sorry.
Mirrored to make a full sword.

Another batch of invertebrates. Clockwise from top: Paper wasp, roly-poly/pillbug, silverfish, millipede, house centipede, earwig. Commissioned work.
More invertebrates! Now featuring pest insects (um, I know, there is a spider there, okay). Although one could absolutely eat the crickets, ant and termite.
Clockwise from top: Marmorated stinkbug, fire ant, termite, cockroach, black widow, ground beetle, and cricket (centre).

Part of a project I've been working on the previous month. It will be published next year hopefully. The full project comprised around 90 images... I really enjoyed it. It was an 'old style' illustration project, not scientific illustration though, so it doesn't have the accuracy I would have liked to achieve with the images (not enough time!) So what do all these have in common? Well, they are all edible, and that is what the book is about! From top to bottom: American grasshoper(Schistocerca americana), Locust(Locusta migratoria), Meadow grasshopper (Chorthippus parallelus), Chapulin( Sphenarium spp).
