lessons
Thank you pain for the trials,
Thank you suffering for the tears;
In this journey of wisdom,
I've learned how to be me.
There were marvelous moments,
I embraced them with bliss;
I met someone named loneliness,
She has taught me to bleed.
Thank you life for the experience,
Thank you night for the thoughts;
Books were friends, sometimes lovers,
I've been wrestling with both
In a sky full of lessons,
Where the teacher was missed;
Life itself was a subject,
That I passed with a B.
Walter D Tomeo
in the static of bliss
Still as the waters beyond,
My soul hears the sound of love;
For the world will run away,
And my peace forever gone.
Needless to say, I'm a thinker,
I'm a lover of love,
With my hands I write the poems;
With my heart I share my voice.

in the seventh hour
Here is where I am,
No words of shame;
Despite the past,
Nothing is lost when the time is right.
In your arms I feel the peace I'm craving,
Your skin gave me a place to stay;
And your presence a sense of two,
Nothing is lost when the time is right.
On this bed of starring stars I'm resting well,
No apologies, no regrets;
The prize was the warmth of your presence,
Thus your flesh gave me a place to stay.
In the seventh hour,
When everyone is waking up;
The morning melody of rush,
Despite the past; I wasn't alone and neither lonely,
In fact I was alive,
Brave and not sorry.

a ray of clarity
In the midst of the night,
When silence reigns over the noise;
I see the crown of victory,
I breathe the air of love.
There's no intentions but one,
Just to be free, just to stay calm;
And without effort I rise,
In the realms of thought;
To stay in touch,
To embrace the heavens above.
In the midst of this light,
When the universe calls my name;
I see time as eternal,
I breathe life with great hope.
There's no time to be alone,
I'm just always feel life's love;
And my true companion is,
An entire world of joy.

change of heart
Now that you're thinking,
Away from the crowds,
Now that you're able,
To stay in all night.
What matters most to you?
Is it freedom? Is it time?
The city is renewing,
The clouds look intact;
No worries, let's wait,
Life pauses sometimes.
But now that you're thinking,
That you're by my side;
What matters most to you?
Is it freedom? Is it time?
Or is what am I thinking?
That you have a change of heart.
No matter the thoughts,
No matter the sighs;
I'll be contemplating,
The rhythms of time.
Walter D Tomeo
small moments
Echoes of laughter penetrate my reflections
Reminding me of the loneliness that exists
Amid shattered memories and lost dreams
When I awakened to a family that was gone
Lifted from the earth to walk along those
Streets of heaven, where I will someday walk
Feet beating out a dance of loving wisdoms
Hailing those beloved people I’ve missed for these
Many years of living on earth and witnessing
Other families coming and going, alive and well
Seeking the warmth that flickers with fires
Of intimacy and inspiration, insight into faith
Where secret visions soar, unheard and silent,
Reaching through the pains and struggles
To light up like diamonds in the darkest night
Vibrations of hope puncture my whispering
Musings, painting hues of sparkling desire
Through my passionate spirit, my tender
Feelings, flowing crimson through veins of
Serenity and joy, yearnings for the day when
I, too, will reach this place called heaven
Where I will meet the One who has known
Me all along, known my heart, soul and spirit
Known the family that I miss so desperately
And long for, with a hunger that threatens
To consume my very soul with its ache for
The small moments when I knew them best

Underloved
It's early morning,
And I'm in silence without noise;
Some thoughts wander, I can't reach them,
They were eager to see dawn.
My porch's sagging, rain is present,
You may be somewhere alone.
And raindrops are falling from my ceiling,
Like a hysterical rugged drum.
And here I am,
Unrested and watching;
This sunk heart,
Lonesome in love.
Walter D Tomeo
Complacent Love
His love aloof was infinitely vacant
Deceptively numb, undeniably complacent;
The albatross veiled, stale and unspoken;
Love was the shimmer, blandness the token.
Adorning the love that left me indentured.
Wearing it proudly, my feelings uncensored;
But his heart was latent, non-reciprocating;
I could not endure discreet manipulating.
What prompts lover to lackluster feeling,
When two first together brought amorous healing?
Affinities flowered without preempt to wilt;
Relational fuse with uncertainty built.
Warm gifts of ambrosia to him, an indulgence;
Impassioned he glowed - delicious refulgence.
But, implicit signs were of disconcertment,
And I, aptly blind to love’s crude deferment.
How would I bear the cross that was left me?
A heart marred by shame, immeasurably empty.
Pervasively soured, infringed by his guile;
In love with a man who whose heart wore defile.
