I’m in the BloodyMary trenches so here have a Hunger Games AU bc this is Tumblr and I’m unwell

Simon is from District 11 - Darkmoor, District of Agriculture. He is a survivor of a revolt went wrong. Because he is young, the authorities give him an option - die in prison or get a chance at freedom by volunteering for the Games. The other tribute joining him is Ava, who does not care if he dies in the Games.

Ryland Grace is from District 5 - Elsing, District of Power. He is nobody’s first choice. Martin Dubois and Annie Shapiro were reaped first, but died in transit. He became infamous for trying to run after he was reaped, quickly earning him a reputation as a coward. Olesya Ilyukhina is the other tribute with him. Eva Stratt is their mentor who is willing to pull a lot of strings to ensure that they get sponsors.

It is during the games that Grace shows off just how resourceful he is. He spent his time training not to fight but to survive. He makes an alliance with the District 12 tributes - Rocky and Adrian - after Olesya dies in the Cornucopia.

One of the traps set is an ocean of blood. Simon nearly dies, the eel creature inside killing Ava and a good number of tributes. Grace is able to save Simon, even if it’s temporary, but not without Simon losing an arm and disfiguring his face.

Idk where to go after that but that’s what I got so far

Actually let me talk about the Trolley Operators in this crossover because yes Stratt and Ava are the only people who’d really grasp the horror of the position they’re in. But I do think despite the empathy there, you would also have discomfort and even rejection, maybe? Because Ava does something we know might make Stratt’s skin crawl, and that’s the way she tries belatedly tries to pull her punches.

“How is she pulling her punches she literally welds Simon into the Iron Lung-” She insists she doesn’t want him to die. She denies the journey as an execution even when, as Simon insists, there’s no need to lie. There’s not enough of us left to be throwing lives away. After the third time Simon tries to apologize without a sorry for the camara, she tries to forgive him without a sorry, too. She sounds guilty and defeated when she admits she doesn’t know his name. She offers her name, first. She softly says this isn’t punishment. It’s not fair. She tries to give him hope, It might sound crazy but we have gotten people out before. She says it’s worth it. She says it’s bigger than us. But it’s not. Simon is right. Some bone fragment was never going to be worth this torture. They were grasping at straws. The black box was a fluke. Ava was lying since the beginning, but she’s lying because she needs to believe it. She reaches out to Simon because she doesn’t want him dead and because she’s convincing herself that she isn’t actually killing and torturing him. That it’s a calculated risk.

It’s not the attempt mercy that would make Stratt’s skin crawl. I want to make that clear. Stratt tried to grant all sorts of comfort to the Hail Mary’s crew, too. The problem is Ava’s the sort of. denial? Or even the just how she sort of broke. The way Ava avoids admitting to herself and Simon he was always going to die. That it might not have been worth it. Stop pretending this is about your students. It’s insulting. Stratt couldn’t and wouldn’t look away from what she was doing. Ava strikes me as someone who needs to look away to keep her sanity intact. So they’re not a perfect match. But maybe they’re better for it.
