SNM-like choreography videos
Hey SNM/Punchdrunk fans, do you have any favorite videos of choreography that reminds you of the show? Either for the purpose of showing someone what the dancing is like, or just to get a hit of the good stuff when you’ve been away for a while. Obviously there’s more than one style of dance in PD shows, but I’m thinking more specifically of the narrative expressionist style, like the big solos, the arguments, the love scenes, etc. Thoughts? Links?Â
I’m a fan of Kate Weare’s work. She a bit more abstract than narrative, but it’s beautiful all the same. Here’s an excerpt featuring 2 former SNM dancers. https://youtu.be/ncknS2JPIOE I’d also recommend checking out Adam Barruch's work!!!! https://youtu.be/FqbMeR7fFo0
And Luke Murphy!

Finally got rid of my awful years-old url.Â

I don't know how I feel about this...
A little clip of me singing "Natasha Lost" from Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812
Some improv inspired by a character many of us know and love.

Just had the best Laban improv sess with my class! I've definitely found my love for Laban.
Most life changing things I've learned.
Hey! I have some questions about GSA and MT course, hope you don't mind me asking. And if you do, i'm so sorry. hehe So, I'm currently 11th grader, studying at the conservatoire jazz vocal. My strongest sides are singing and acting but dancing is what worries me. I have always been pretty flexible even without doing any athletics or excercises but i dont have any experience in dancing. Never done ballet or jazz. How important dancing is for the audition part? What person do they look for overall?
Hi there!I’d love to answer your question, but in private. I don’t think I should publicly post anything on behalf of my school as I am not in a position to do so and can only speak from my own experience. So if you feel comfortable, you can message me off anon. But do know, I can tell you my feelings, but I don’t actually have any idea what they’re looking for.Hope to hear from you!
Extra special edition of "What I Did at School Today" ---> Performed at the "Olivier's in Concert" at the Royal Festival Hall with the BBC Concert Orchestra !!! (Pictures with Clive Rowe whom we sang "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat" with, and Elaine Paige)
They know
In class the other day we did a Punchdrunk exercise, and the moment my teacher uttered the word 'Punchdrunk' the entire class turned around and looked at me. Oh, they know me too well. I'll be home tomorrow (Sun. 20th) and for the next 3 weeks. Hope to see some of you around the Mckittrick
First project done
Today, my class performed our first workshop project of our first year. We've been officially debuted as GSA students! Our first project was on storytelling. Our task, to tell a ten minute story (mostly well known tales) with nothing but ourselves. No props, no costumes, no lighting, just 6 actors and an audience. This was pretty daunting at first, but as we were guided along, the distinct shapes of each story took form. Effects were created through choral speech, mime, dance, song, and lifts. Although learning how to create theatre from nothing was valuable and educational, the real lesson here was on the process of group devising. The thought of working without a director makes one think that all will descend into chaos, but in actuality, when we worked together and built upon each other's ideas, we created something more magnificent than anybody could have thought of on their own. Not to say the process didn't have it's challenges, but even the compromise and change had positive effects. I'm very happy with how our Little Mermaid came out! This presentation was also the first time we as a full class got to see each other perform. I have to say, I was in awe of the talent I saw in my classmates. I can't wait to watch them make it big, because they all have what it takes, wow! Lastly, today was a big milestone. It dawned on me that one year ago the thought of being at GSA was still just a pipe dream. Now, I'm here. I'm among these amazingly talented people, and I'm doing what I love everyday. And now, I'm already past the first step on my drama school journey (wow that sounds cheesy, but I'm feeling the cheese). Actual last thing, my god did it feel good to be in front of an audience again. The energy you get from them is like nothing else, and boy did I need some of it!
For a bit of "What I Did At School Today" Every musical theatre kids right of passage, learning the Jellical Ball from Cats! Fun fact: If you watch the film of Cats, the woman playing Victoria/The White Cat, is my ballet teacher/head of dance.

Nothing quite like going to a West End show and seeing 3 alumni of your school and one of your teachers performing in it.
