q: can i send a rec?

a: yes, please! if there are major trigger warnings i'd appreciate them, but they aren't a requirement. my only ask is please don't send anything where pregnancy or incest are a large part of the narrative.

q: can i submit a review?

a: not at the moment, but i may reconsider as i get this more put together.

q: will you cover x media which has a really popular ot3/ot4/etc.?

a: no, though i may do a special edition posts on some of my favorites. probably the biggest debate was Leverage/Leverage: Redemption but sadly at present i don't feel i can count among "canon" (though i will be popping the biggest bottles if it ever does become fully canon). i may rethink the "word of god" type canon later, but for now, that's where i land.

The QL Thai drama 3 Will Be Free was amazing! A male stripper and a hostess at a go-go club must escape a mafia boss with the help of his son.

This is an m/m/f thriller. There is also a major trans female character with a revenge arc. Both reps are extremely rare in TV shows, and you get a great plot at that! Here's a short, sexy fanvid that doesn't spoil the plot.

There are 10 episodes of about 50 minutes. You can watch it legally and for free on YouTube.

For sure! Sadly only a couple, but I’m always on the lookout for more!

Consort of Fire by Kit Rocha—this is the first in a a duology and the second book is a must to complete the story, heads up! Fantasy romance, one of the heroines is a princess forced to marry a dragon god/shifter guy who hasn’t fucked in centuries because his consorts always die. She’s tasked with killing him, and her handmaiden is both an assassin and her lover! I really enjoy how the married couple really bonds quickly, but the handmaiden takes woooooing.

Scandalous Passions by Nicola Davidson—medieval romance in which a gruff but secretly subby knight is tasked with escorting a virginal ward girly and the king’s former mistress (for whom he pines) across Scotland. The former mistress begins as a hinge of sorts (and domme) but the ward and the knight end up falling for each other as well.

I haven’t read Sherwood by Sierra Simone because I’ve been keeping it under glass, but I’ve been told it’s great—a Robin Hood retelling in which Robin is a woman and the she, the modern Maid Marian, and the modern Sheriff of Nottingham end up together. Assassin shenanigans involved, I believe!

Two Husbands One Wife

The QL j-drama Two Husbands One Wife was super cute! An m/f couple ask her ex-boyfriend to join them in a three-way marriage. The latter's rabbit, now in Heaven, watches over them and narrates the story.

This turned out to be a very down-to-earth show, with a vibe similar to Old Fashion Cupcake.

There are 11 episodes of 20 minutes, available on Netflix.

In Iron Stars by VT Hoang

In Iron Stars by VT Hoang was awesome! It's the sequel to On Silver Shores, but it's readable as a standalone. Inquisitor Saoirse must escort two scientists through the blight: her ex, Iza, and her ex's husband, Cas.

The first book remains my favourite, as this one had too much sex for my taste. Apart from that, I loved the characters and all their interactions, especially the maths flirting. ^^

Saoirse is a Black female half-siren with a supernatural genetic defect. Iza is an Asian trans female half-vampire half-demon. Cas is a Latino lycan. There's major f/f/m and minor m/m (the pairing from Book 1).

November Book Reviews: Son of the Morning by Akwaeke Emezi

Picked this book up from the library new purchases because I'd heard of Emezi before and the premise sounded interesting. In Son of the Morning, Galilee has spent her life with her loving but stifling family, who have lied to her for twenty-five years about her identity. An unexpected encounter at her friend's glitzy party with a security guard who is more than he seems plunges Galilee into a world of angels, demons, and powers beyond anything she'd dreamed of.

Son of the Morning is billed as a paranormal romance, but it's above the usual pay grade, as it features the actual devil from the bible as a love interest rather than the pedestrian vampire or dragon shifter. (It's also a poly romance, which you wouldn't guess from the cover, but that only comes into play late in the novel.) The romance leans heavily on the instant overpowering attraction between Galilee and Lucifer. It's compellingly written with none of the usual missish ooh what was this strange emotion she was feeling nonsense. Galilee is a grown woman, she knows what she wants, and she's comfortable naming it. Still, not everyone is going to mesh well with the instant zero to one hundred acceleration of the relationship. While some of the plot background is interesting, particularly Galilee's messy relationship with her witchy family and Lucifer's millenia-long thorny relationship with his princes, ultimately the worldbuilding is just fancy stage setting for the sex scenes. There may be a portal to hell and magic ties to the creek and manipulative angels, but this is primarily a romance novel and that's where the focus lies.

A solid poly romance with an ambitious paranormal setting and a strong sense of place. Based on the ending, there will be a sequel, and I'm interested to see where Emezi takes the story next.

The Moonstone Covenant by Jill Hammer

The Moonstone Covenant by Jill Hammer was absolutely amazing! Four wives investigate the death of Olloise's parents and end up in the middle of a political plot.

This is my favourite 2025 read so far. It's beautifully written like old-school fantasy, the comparison to Le Guin isn't exaggerated. The worldbuilding is rich (thanks for the map and the appendices!) and the many characters have complex lives. I also enjoyed the "book" theme as one of the wives is a warrior-librarian and another has book magic.

This is established f/f/f/f, which is lovely as all-female polyamory is still rare rep. Minor enbies make an appearance.
