Which of these sapphic books coming out in 2026 are you excited to read?โ
Good afternoon, book lovers and bookish bats, and happy Pride Month. I LOVE seeing how many people are dedicated to reading more sapphic books this year, especially after all the wlw / bisexual discourse that happened on threads last month. Sapphic stories have a special place in my heart. As a bisexual woman in a long-term sapphic relationship, I know there are a dozen different ways these relationships can blossom. Whether it's sparked by the hot tension of arguing with a rival or slowly falling for a friend, sapphic books span genres and lifetimes. ๐
There are so many sapphic books coming out in 2026 that I had to break this guide into two parts (a first!). Here are a few of the amazing, sassy, sweet, captivating, and tantalizing sapphic books coming out in 2026 for you to read during Pride Month and beyond! Remember to read queer all year, my beloved book lovers and bookish bats! ๐
What's your favorite sapphic book?โ
Help! Insta is definitely suppressing my queer book guides during Pride Month (worse, my sapphic book guides get hit the most). Please help by sharing this. ๐

This was a great story about recognizing found family in friendship, processing grief and growing into adulthood as much as it was an unexpectedly sweet romance.
During the engagement party, bachelorette weekend and pre-wedding planning, a slowburn love story developed between two bridesmaids: former rock star Alice and former theater actress Renee. They were both close friends of the bride, Gin. Alice was actually Gin's ex-girlfriend as well.
While Alice and Renee initially, butt heads and bodies, the rivals to lovers part was a very minimal piece and didn't last long before Alice and Renee built a new friendship instead. Eventually, their friendship spilled over into more. Still, they both weren't ready to immediately commit to each other with everything else going on in their individual lives.
Alice was on a journey of sobriety and grieving her father's recent death and uncertainty about what to do next in her life. Renee lost an important job and was at a similar crossroads in her own life. They supported each other through some ups and downs. They worked together with family and friends to give their friend Gin the perfect wedding at a predictable and meaningful venue after original plans fell apart. Gin nudged both Alice and Renee to kiss and makeup and they did.
Told in first person from only Alice's POV. While there was tons of mutual pining and yearning between the ladies, there was only one steamy scene that was medium spice.
This might be a stupid complaint, but this book needed a different cover. The bride was a white girl with auburn/red hair. She looked tanned on this cover or almost Indian like her fiance. The bridesmaids to lovers were a woman with short brown hair and a woman with flowy long blonde, not red hair. The other bridesmaid had dark hair. I think the cover might have been commissioned when an earlier draft of the story described the women differently. It kept taking me out of the story when the women were described in ways that didn't match the book cover. I know, I'm weird.
In 1874, at the age of four-and-a-half, Thomas Stanton realises that โThomasโ is a boyโs name and that everyone, even her mother, thinks sheโs a boy.
So begins the extraordinary journey of a transgender girl who must not only try to understand what it means to be a girl inside the body of a boy, a century before there was even a name for it, but she must soon find some way to change her body before the horror of puberty casts her as a man forever.
This is one girlโs breathtaking fight to survive as herself, and to be loved for who she is.

sapphic & trans books are sooooo important for representation, knowledge, comfort and are always necessary reads! if you're not picking up these kinds of books On The Regular, what are you doing ???? get it together pleaseeee
to help get you started or help you find some more niche + diverse books/recent releases, here are the books i hope to read this month!!
This was so much fun! Blaise and Royal are absolute menaces in the best way possible. Their enthusiasm for all things nerdy and dinosaur was so infectious and fun and made this book an absolute joy to read! I loved that Blaise was a dino themed drag queen and that got to use his drag persona as a disguise. It was also really fun that he also got to put Royal, Dalton, and Simon in drag too! I loved it! I keep saying it, but this book was just so much fun and it had me giggling and laughing my ass off on more than one occasion. Royal and Blaise were just so sweet together and I loved that they bonded over TMNT and nerding out over dinosaurs and fossils. King & Queen is getting five stars!
Pride Reads 2026, Day 9: Under the Surface by N. R. Walker
Set in Australia! Detective Douglas Sawyer has an unexplainable experience while on the job, something that could be paranormal. When he refuses to lie about the experience, he is asked to report to a remote fishing village and investigate the area and its inhabitants. What he finds is a tiny town and a handful of gorgeous men, especially Ciaran Brenner, the unfriendly owner of an antiques shop. But Ciaran and the men are more than they seem, and something odd is happening in Tenebrae Cove...
Two words: OCTOPI SHIFTERS!! I loved it! I really enjoyed the setting, the fish out of water vibes, the mystery, and the romance. Get ready for tentacle porn ๐
Type Maps for The Unmagical Life of Briar Jones by Lex Croucher ๐ค
A portrait of Briar Jones in his tartan blazer and a portrait of Bastian Wolfe wearing his cloak. This book is so good and is out today! One of my favorites this year.
I already read the book on kindle unlimited and it changed my life lol, but Iโm picking up the audiobook now too just to support the author / listen again before the sequel drops next month (and because I have so many audible credits that are just sitting there so why not). I saw a lot of people here asking about an audiobook for this one, so thought Iโd share this.
It seems to unfortunately be audible exclusive right now? Iโm not sure if thatโs temporary or if its permanent, but I couldnโt find it anywhere else. She only mentions audible in her post.

Milo Lamoree is livinโ the glamorous life of a sex shop sales rep, forever explaining to grown adults what they should and should not be sticking inside of themselves and/or others. Heโs not doing any sticking himselfโhis demisexuality hasnโt exactly enticed any โhot young singles in your area.โ Considering his clienteleโs wackadoo misconceptions about anatomy, etc., itโs not like Milo has the leftover energy to fall in love, anyway.
โฆWell, too bad.
Stevie Hart has heard it said that being bisexual means you have more options, meanwhile sheโs experienced that not at all. Her love life is all unsolicitedโahemโpics (you know the ones) and straight couples looking for an experimental third. No thanks. When youโre already managing your own agoraphobia, who has time to deal with whateverโs going on with those people? Falling in love isnโt worth the mess.
โฆUntil it is.
Along with their meddling mutual friends, Possibly The Worst Ex In The World, and a totally banginโ soundtrack, Stevie and Milo hit every major identity crisis (sexual, spiritual, existential, you get it) on their way to finding each otherโand themselves.
(And if they happen to also find the best title of an adult film while theyโre at it? Thatโs just the rainbow sprinkles on top.)
I wanted to like this book. Sadly, I did not. The book drags, and that says something when itโs only around 100 pages. It also tries to do too much. There is a trans character that doesnโt get the focus it should, and there is an aromantic character that doesnโt get the focus it maybe should. The conflicts are shallow as hell; the โmajor fightโ seems constructed and left me shaking my head. The characters seem strangely flat and interchangeable.
So what is this about? Tyler and Jackson work at the same company and are โwork husbands.โ One day Tyler ends up at Jacksonโs place, and he and his real husband, Sky, proposition him. He says yes, and they start fucking, but Sky and Jackson want more.
This is, I guess, where the conflict should come in, as Tyler never felt love for anyone โthat way,โ and all his previous partners left him because of that.
There is a lot of exposition in this one; constantly weโre told things that happened somewhere off-page, and there is not a lot of dialogue. Also, in my opinion, there are too many side characters. It feels very crowded and like theyโre there so the story has some meat on the bones, because the romance isnโt enough to keep the book interesting. Frankly, this one bored me, but it was only 100 pages, so I finished it.
Would I recommend it? No, I donโt think so. Iโve tried two other stories by the author, and while the short story was fine, the longer one had the same problem of nothing really happening and too much exposition, and honestly, it feels like the author is on a mission to lecture the reader about all the queer identities that are out there. And I am not interested in that when I want to get lost in a romance.
