she didnât need to ask for clarification on who âheâ was. there was a feeling in the pit of her stomach for a few brief moments before she came to her senses. if pitch black had broken out from the isle, not only would people have found out by now, but she would have felt his presence. nightmare energy such as his was like a walking, talking beacon. a signal that told his children, âhere i am!â and she hadnât felt it, not at all. âheâs not here, sam,â she said softly, letting out a breath. âwhy did you think he was?â
Samuel hesitated when she sounded so certain that he wasnât there. âI heard him.â He repeated quietly. âI woke up because he yelled in my ear, and my blankets were hanging in the air...â His voice was slowly going back to normal, but he was still clearly afraid. If it wasnât their father, then who would do something like that? Why would someone do something like that? Was what happened on the Isle starting to happen here to, where anyone and anyone would come after him?
