“Childhood Friend” | Mystery Skulls AU #1

“Arthur! Hey Arthur!” A voice yelled from the distance. Arthur turned around, a tall guy came running towards them. Dariel finally caught up to them, he seemed to be smiling.

“D-Do I know you?..” Arthur stuttered.

Dariel laughed.

“Nice one, Arthur. It’s me, Dariel!” Dariel said.

“D-Dariel?!” Arthur shouted in shock.

“Yea! It’s good to see you man!” Dariel said as he walked over and patted his back.

“I t-thought you and your family got in a car crash” Arthur stated.

“Oh we did, I survived though!” Dariel smiled, trying to stay positive.

“What about your family?” Arthur asked.

“They...didn’t make i-it...” Dariel said, slowly looking down at the ground.

Dariel started to cry a bit.

“Dariel....I’m sorry..” Arthur apologized, he didn’t know about his family’s death.

Dariel laughs through his pain and wiped his tears away. Arthur looked very worried, concerned about Dariel.

“So who are your friends?” Dariel asked.

“Oh this is Vivi” Arthur said, pointing to Vivi.

“Hi!” Vivi said, waving at him.

“And this is Mystery” Arthur said, petting Mystery.

“Nice to meet ya both!” Dariel said, smiling.

“Dariel..can I talk to you for a second, alone?” Arthur asked.

“Sure thing” Dariel responded.

Arthur grabbed Dariel’s arm, pulling him away from Vivi and Mystery so that they could talk alone.

“Dariel..you know you can tell me anything” Arthur stated.

“I know” Dariel said, smiling.

“Then tell me, why are you hiding the fact that you’re hurting?” Arthur asked.

“Whatever do you mean?” Dariel asked.

“You seem like everything is fine, but I can tell that you’re not fine” Arthur stated.

“You’re right I’m not fine...but I have to at least try to be fine.” Dariel said.

Arthur stood in silence, he tried to comfort his depressed friend but he didn’t know what to do. Tears started to form in Dariel’s eyes again, tears rolling down his cheek slowly.

“If I’m not fine, then what am I? A depressed son of a bitch, that does nothing but mope around” Dariel whispered.
