Reading Jurassic Park is like emotional whiplash... on one hand, Malcolm died??? (It was retcon later.) Hammond is a monster (the movie was too kind to this billionaire tbh the screenwriters deserves to be punched in the face). Lex's biggest crime is that she's a girl and Tim is supposed to be the chill one, sure Jan. Grant is sort of, kind of bland (I'm sorry, he is)... Sattler is smart, capable, amazing, etc... and yet Crichton wrote her in a way that lets us know she written for the male graze. Dr. Wu is such an interesting character, so I'm surprised he wasn't in the movie more. It's actually a pretty good book, but Grant is about as interesting as drywall and I'm thankful we get to see other perspectives.
