A special thanks to blogging
In the beginning of my semester I did not know how blogging would be. I’ve heard of people blogging in movies and social media but I never first hand tried it for myself. When my teacher first brought up this assignment, I thought it would be a new and interesting way to accumulate knowledge from my classmates while having fun at the same time. Also, it would be a great way to voice your opinion about certain things you may not have had the courage or motivation to write about before.
With all the blogs that were due by 11:59 pm Sunday night, it made me more conscious to get it done on time. It helped and still is helping me get my timing and scheduling on point. Another thing blogging helped me with, was learning on how to brainstorm new ideas. If I wanted to get a blog done where I was stuck, I had to really use my imagination. I would take myself out of my shoes and “think outside the box”. I would brain storm, and take over 30 minutes just to get a fascinating topic. Now, it’s easier to create trending topics where hopefully, my audience stays intrigued the whole time. Lastly, blogging has helped me with learning on how to properly critique and respond to new ideas that I’ve never discussed before.
One of my favorite ones I enjoyed responding to was Women in the black community. I thought this was a very important topic that needs to be voiced and heard. Many people don’t realize the hardships and dilemmas us BLACK woman endure. When you voice your opinions through blogging, topics like this not only get read, but they’re getting heard. People realize different point of views when you blog and you get inside the author’s head now. Why is this topic so serious to them? What can we do to help solve the problem? Your brain starts to scan and analyze differently.
This skill applies to when you write a blog yourself. With the mindset you use with this, you get into the habit of writing with higher vocabulary, analyzing readings, and for me, formatting. Before blogging, writing in huge clumps was a bad habit I had. The more blogs, the more practice I received and the better my writing became. Blogging has been a blessing and a pain at the same time, but now because of it, I am a better writer.
