Clearing out
The other day I told someone that I love to research and gather information; I’m not great at pulling a product out of it. Thus, I didn’t finish an MA in history. It’s always been true. On this snow day, I recycled and tossed items in old file folders, but I’ll hang onto this notebook from my years at the museum. In addition to learning the field, I participated in monthly seminars where we’d discuss topics of city and Southern history. I loved that job.
Not sure this is the IG replacement I am looking for.
This year, I’ve set a not-very rigorous goal to clear out a bin or a box of stored stuff every month. Some grade school files seem like they have any assignment that got better than a C. Or anything in a report folder? I sure loved science when I was little. Too bad a terrible high school chemistry teacher made me hate it all.
Before memes and online photos we just tacked stuff to our walls.
Thinking about changing my #outlasted tag to #döstädning. Not because I feel like The End is Nigh, but because it makes sense to let go of random keepsakes, like the credit panel from an exhibition I put together.
Part of my Outlasted series. I’m not an archive, I won’t win a costume contest or a scavenger hunt by owning one; I don’t need to keep it.
Vintage sweater I’ve loved to bits.
Outlasted 6. Coats have been big in the news this week. A week ago, the bottom part of the zipper pull on this fleece jacket broke. Pretty sure I owned it before I met the X. I replace my wool over coats every four or five years but this one keeps hanging in.
