Tdbk or bkdk? Not as a ship war thing 😂 Just. What do you like about both (what do you like more)? What is easier to write?

Ahhhh I remember being asked this like, a year ago and I remember not being to answer because I loved them both so equally despite writing tdbk more ashjdsj

Now I...kinda lean more bkdk, but that doesn’t mean I love tdbk any less. It’s just two very different dynamics, and something about bkdk’s has been tickling my fancy a lot more. I don’t think one is easier than the other. It’s just different?Tdbk is great because you can make them old men together that just want peace, quiet, and to sleep at 9pm or you can really push the limits of rivals and there’s a lot of..........anger and pent up feelings and UST. They can be as intense or calm as you want and it’s not breaking character.Bkdk is a more complicated dynamic only because they’re all over the place before mutual respect in a healthy capacity sets in. You can also take their dynamic in every which way, but the fact they’re stemmed out of miscommunication is.....fun?? to write?? anyway both are good and I’m happy to see tdbk team up in the new chapter ahhhhh

1/3 Hello and thank you for such a thoughtful and thorough answer! I'm honored that you took the time to write out your thoughts than answer it with "just keep writing" (which also is actually advice 😂😂). I decided to try writing stories recently, and at first, found everything hard. Like, writing a good story is so hard! It's much easier as a reader to distinguish "good" story telling from "bad" story telling.

2/3 But when you go to actually try writing “good” stories yourself, you begin to respect those who 1) attempted writing and finishing a story at all and 2) are talented writers. All this to say that I found it very hard for me to convey in words feelings and thoughts the way I want, and to have the characters move and exist in the story in a way that doesn’t distract from the flow of the story itself

3/3 (lol and smut is extra hard to write for this reason because it ends up sounding too?? cliche?? and not at all interesting/ something worth being emotionally invested in like you mentioned ). Thank you again for your response🙏😊😗❤

I mean, to be fair, ‘just keep writing’ is pretty solid advice LOL But I know it’s not very specific to this problem.Writing a good story IS very hard, but I think with it you’ll have to acknowledge that not everything you make will be good, and that’s fine. it’s part of the process. Learning from your failures or even your mediocre work is what’s going to keep things moving in a better direction— so keep making the thing lolBut yeah, I….definitely relate to a lot of this haha. Just know you’re not alone, at least!!Hmm. I mean, if you feel things are too cliche then perhaps spin it in a different direction? An idea that is typically used, but do something out of the ordinary with it. That’s basically how the scientific method came to be made. I wanted to see crying kink but in reverse of the typical bakugou >> deku version of it.But again: A beta should be of help for all of that!!Good luck anon ;__;

Hello my favorite author of all time how do you write smut?:3 Like actually how do you write it? Without it sounding unnatural and weird? How did you first start?

FAVORITE OF ALL TIME? Oh that’s incredibly generous of you but idk if I agree with that 😭

NOW HOW TO WRITE SMUT: Well, to be honest anon, unless you give me something specific about your own writing, I’m not sure I’ll be of much help aside from general advice.

I first started in high school as an inexperienced and horny teen so lmao not a great start, but you know, you do what you know.

But y’know, time passes and I have some experience and it becomes easier to talk about, which in turn makes it easier to write about. Though, I do find it hard to judge if it’s even still good when I’m writing because rarely does my own work make me emotional or horny in any way ;;; I am usually too focused on making sure it makes sense lol

Having said that, I’m wondering what it is you find unnatural or weird about your writing (assuming this is why you’re asking)? Is it the positions, or maybe the way they move? Or maybe you focus too much on the positioning and maybe not how the characters are feeling, or what they’re feeling? Is it weird because you feel weird about it (whether writing smut itself or what you’re writing about), or is what the characters are doing/feeling is weird?

I usually end up asking myself a lot of these questions: If character a does x to character b, then how does that make character b feel, both physically and emotionally? Do any of the characters have reservations about sex or the other person? Does their relationship standing make this a good experience, an anxiety inducing experience, a sad experience, etc? How can I convey those emotions through the smut? How many times have I used the word cock in a row (lol)? Do these actions make any damn sense? How does the sensation of x feel, and how can I convey that in a way that’s accurate but also, you know, horny??

For me, personally, I get sucked into smut that has some kind of emotional standing between characters, even if those emotions are apathy or non-existent between them. I need my heart to nut (or hurt) for smut to be gratifying. I’m usually pretty bored by stuff that’s just like, idk, established relationship shower sex quicky and they cuddle or something and that’s it. Writing smut is still writing a story: very rarely is a stand alone scene interesting without having established something more grounding, if that makes sense?

I also always have a beta for these things!! I know using a beta can be anxiety inducing for some, but I find them to be essential, especially when I am not sure about how something is reading. It’s always good to bounce ideas or what you’re concerned about with someone so they can give advice or reassure you. So if you feel like something sounds weird, it’s always good to let your beta know that when going in to read it your stuff :3

Random thought: do you think deku would ever wonder if class 1A would like him as much if they knew that he was born quirkless? Like based on his own experiences from the past being a quirkless kid (from his classmates, from the adults in his life)? Like, even in the future, would society praise him as much if they knew he was actually born quirkless? Call him a fake? Like would he just have Bad Thoughts sometimes, not fully swept up and drowning in them but just thoughts like this that spiral.

I would think so! Considering we’re still in their first year in the manga, his experience being a quirkless kid is still pretty fresh. His confidence also isn’t 100% there yet, so yeah...I can imagine that this might happen every so often, though I’m sure what really spirals him more (now at any rate) is carrying the mantel of All Might’s legacy.

Not sure how society would react, tbh. I mean, he plays off that he was a late bloomer and teeeechnically he’s not wrong. I would love for bnha or vigilantes to expand on the treatment of quirkless people. Like, there’s a meta floating around here somewhere about how even having the most useless quirk seems to be more valued than having none at all, but like...is that actually true for society at large? Or is that just the cruelty of being a teen in middle school (the inarguable most Awful Fucking Years of Anyone’s Life)?

But yeah, maybe it occurs to him so often. Maybe if someone makes a passing comment about how being quirkless must suck or something in that nature, but I think he might be a little pre-occupied with his millions of quirks right now ahdjfPersonally? I would love for things to come full circle for him to be quirkless again and still a great hero, but uh...who knows it’s shounen they love power levels lol

a) an intentional marketing scheme to stir interest in the project and attract certain fanbases (lgbtq people and young women) vs. 

b) members of the creative team genuinely wanting to write queer characters but the corporate side of things force them to tone it down but they still leave little hints vs. 

c) they legitimately did not know how gay something would come across
