Half Man makes me nuts for many reasons but one of the biggest is all the space in the show. Like the constant time jumps and little bits and pieces of things that aren't really explained make me yearn for more. I would have loved to see more of them as teens especially cause the show makes me so sad that the teen years is a little slice of respite and happiness in a show that is the equivalent of a punch to the throat.

But the space and lack of explanation is also so cool because its like a little playground to insert all my little scenarios and theories. Just wish I was a little better at writing so I could get them down on a page lol.

john morfin truly suffered more than jesus because when i get a migraine in 2026 and can't immediately take painkillers and lie down in the dark for 12 hours i start fantasizing about unspeakable violence. i can't imagine having a migraine in 1846 while you and all your colleagues are trapped in the arctic slowly dying from scurvy and lead poisoning. not to mention the creature. if i were in that situation i'd make hickey look like mr rogers.

I'm not religious but I'm a very emotional scientist and I've been thinking about this a LOT lately. I love the earth enough to be its steward. and I have the necessary tools for the task. a complex brain. dexterous hands. legs made to walk long and far. millions and millions of years of Chance and Opportunity shaped me into something that can give back to the planet that has been a life-sustaining home for every person who ever lived. it's enough to make me teary eyed sometimes

"humans are pests that should be exterminated" I don't think that's true. the ecological niche of humans has shifted from persistence predation to stewardship of entire ecosystems. we've done a lot of wrong. but we have incredible potential to do so, so, so much good.

fascinated by the ways niall/ruben are perceived & received (by other characters and by audiences). everyone sees how niall destroys himself over and over, but less how he also destroys those around him. everyone sees how ruben destroys the people around him, over and over, but less the ways he is also destroying himself. how each of them get half of the perception and understanding that should be afforded to a complete human being.

you see, I was going to say “oh to watch half man for the first time again” but the thing is, I don’t think I’d actually want to experience it for the first time ever again, because the amount of anxiety and pain it inflicted on me is immeasurable. I would however love to watch the hospital scene for the first time again.
