also to clarify that earlier post was notĀ āmy transmasc ass should be allowed into any and all womens spacesā but more likeĀ āive been given shit for attending dance parties for wlw and gq women-attracted people and that just donāt make no senseā
Jesse, youāre my friend but Iām going to have to disagree with you on this one. Safe spaces for wlw of all kinds are for just that: wlw. If you acknowledge yourself as a transmasc person, then you should understand you are not entitled to be in that space. If everyone involved consents to you being there, it is no problem, but it is really problematic to assume your transmasc presence shouldnāt be criticized for attending events, no matter if they are a club, dance, game night, anything, if they are intended specifically for woman-aligned people.Ā
Sure! I agree with you completely. I tried to get across that I don't believe I'm entitled to be in wlw spaces in general. This particular space was created by a woman who wanted it to remain inclusive to afab gq and transmasc folks. In no way do I think I should be allowed into spaces that specify themselves for Women. This situation is an exception. I am simply frustrated when others continue to assume a binary male identity of me, which has been happening a lot since I changed my name. I know it is problematic to insert myself into spaces for women, but I do believe I should still be allowed access to spaces for gq folks. (Though I know a few of my friends around here were wanting to start an AMAB gq group and obv I wouldn't have anything to do with that)
