Would you like to your novel ve adapted into a movie or a TV series?
Of course!!! Thatās the dream, but from a realistic standpoint I donāt think it has enough mass media appeal for that to ever happenā¦but never say never!!!
I was commissioned by ariel.n.anderson (IG) to draw her book cover for her Collectorās Edition of Under Your Scars! This project was amazing and I had SO much fun creating it.
Plus it helps if you read the book and know the contents for the Easter eggs included! CHECK OUT HER BOOK ON AMAZON! (Itās a Dark Romance so be sure to read the triggers!!)
If you don't mind, I would like to ask something. What happened between Elliot and the Reeves family (Christian's parents)? What drove Thomas Reeves to murder Elliot's first wife and her two daughters? I'm assuming Elliot killed Thomas and his wife in retaliation for killing Diana, Lisa and Mary.
Thomas had a stalker-like obsession with Diana and when she wouldnāt reciprocate his feelings, he started to get angry and violent until one day he just snapped. Christian said his parents had been fighting a lot in the chapter where he flashes back to the day his parents died, so itās implied they had marital problems and/or Elizabeth knew that Thomas was trying to have an affair and turned a blind eye until he killed Diana and her kids.
Elliot knew it was Thomas that killed them because he had known Diana was reporting Thomas to the police and continually got away with harassing his wife. The time frame between Diana and her kids getting murdered and then Elliot murdering Thomas in retaliation was only a few daysāand Elliot was in Korea at the time so he would have had to travel back to the states, get their affairs in order, and then his grief and anger drove him to killing Thomas and Elizabeth.
I had the opportunity to read Under Your Scars a little bit, and although the genre is not my cup of tea, I was extremely hooked. I burn to the ground for Elena! I have really mixed feelings about Christian, just like Elena; His Silencer side is scary and disturbing, but his civilian side is just as lovable and wholesome.
Elena definitely has her strengths and weaknesses and her moments where sheās both selfish and stupid, but also moments where she stands up for herself.
The Silencer is always scary and intense. Always. But thatās why I love himā¦his wants and desires come before all else and I think thatās what makes him terrifying.
Christian is a cinnamon roll and deserves a big hug. Iād happily give it to him. Who wouldnāt want to be the object of a billionaires obsession š
Oh no no,since you rewrote Omo, i assumed like that š
They are not exactly the same and they are not completely different. Would you still hate Elena? Probably, if youāre expecting her to be a maneater that takes no crap from anyone.
OMO has been deleted and youāve told me profusely how much you hate everything about it. You told me you have no intentions of reading UYS (which is fine, itās not a story that has appealed to everyone).
I donāt know how many more ways I can say that a story I wrote in two months with no breaks and no proofreading for free on tumblr is completely different than something I spent an entire year redeveloping into something people pay real money for.
I get it, OMO was bad. Araminta was annoying. Their relationship was toxic. I agree with you on all fronts. UYS is objectively a better story. Do some readers hate it? Absolutely. Would you hate it? If I had to bet money, Iād bet yes.
How would you describe the personalities of all your characters?
Iām assuming you mean about Under Your Scars and not OMOā¦
Elena: ambitious, but also kinda content with just existing. Sheās someone very easily influenced by the things she goes through, which is why I think she ultimately ended up getting Stockholm Syndromeād. She has a backbone, but itās a weak back.
Christian: suave, charming, ultra-manipulative and effortlessly commanding. Heās not afraid in the slightest about bad publicity. Frequently violent.
One of my reviewers said he displays the dark triad trait of Machiavellianism and I totally agree.
The Silencer: a true psychopath through and through. He displays signs of psychopathy and sociopathy but I think psychopath is a much better fit.
I truly just make them up as I go along and then worry about the finer details of their characters later. Like apart from the two or three main characters I make everyone else up on a whim based on what the particular scene is lacking. Adding side characters is the last exciting part of the process for me but delving deep into my main characters is a highlight.
1)What are the similarities and differences between Araminta and Bruce and Elena and Christian's relationship?
2) Is Travis the oldest or youngest one ? For some reason I though of him as the youngest one idk why š
Travis is the youngest one! He is one year younger.
The main difference is that Araminta was the toxic one in their relationship and in the book, Christian is the VERY toxic one. I honestly donāt think they have a similar relationship at all.
I canāt really speak on OMO anymore since itās been deleted and I kinda forgot alot of the stuff that happened in that story, but Christian and Elena were doomed from the start.
Book spoilers below š
Christian and Elena meet in similar circumstances. Sheās walking home one night by herself and gets cornered in an alley by some thugs.
Christian hears her crying out for help at the exact moment he was getting ready to commit suicide. He takes it as some sort of divine intervention and latches onto Elena because he believes with his entire soul that sheās his guardian angel. He absolutely refuses to let her go and essentially forces her to fall in love with Christian whilst terrorizing her as the Silencer. They do bond, and she does learn to trust the Silencer when she realizes heās not out to hurt her, but once Christian comes clean, sheās distraught, immediately leaves him and races to the police station to tell the cops who he is. She never makes it there, because sheās kidnapped by some other characters in the story.
Elena does not fall in love with Christian nearly as quickly as he does for her. She doesnāt admit that she loves him until a few chapters into the second act, and by that point, sheās fully aware that she has Stockholm Syndrome but when she tries to leave him again at the beginning of the second act, he makes a very manipulative threat towards her to force her to stay.
Iād like to point out that Christian is a cinnamon roll and loves Elena more than anything and genuinely will do anything to make her happy, but his Silencer alter ego is constantly getting in the way, because both sides of him are so afraid of losing her. The Silencer takes the reins hardcore in the third act, and by that point, Elena is full on delusional about her relationship and sees almost nothing wrong about it.
To be honest, Christian is the real victim in the story. He just wanted a reason to live. He found it, and it gets ripped away because of his fear of living without her. I mean, everyone has a tragic ending in the book, but I feel the worst for him.
