“Her eyes stared at him, blank and pale. He held the child more closely to his side and reached to take Semiramis from her hand. When he did, he saw that the ice near the blade was strangely marked, as if she had clawed at it while dying. But the marks were too deliberate for that. As he bent closer, he realized they were words — words his wife had carved into the cave ice with the last of her dying strength.
As he read them, he felt them like three hard blows to the stomach.
AMONG US IN REAL LIFE! SUS! SUS!"
-The Iron Trial
the amount of magisterium fics I’ve inhaled over the past few days should be illegal, and is entirely fueled by my anger over canon
to all the authors I’ve inevitably spammed: forgive me for my siNs
Call: McDonalds! McDonalds! McDonalds!
Constantine: Please?
Alastair: Fine
Alastair: *pulls up to drive thru*
Alastair: One black coffee
Random Person: So, are you guys dating?
Jasper: I wish
Call: What?
Jasper: I SAID GO DIE IN A DITCH
Was the third part of the prophecy ever explained...?
Like obv we know that Call is already dead and Aaron died but like. What did Tamara fail at, exactly? 👀
Have I missed something??
we’re all fairly sure it was never mentioned and thus it’s another plothole ;u;
*sobs*
Alas
Well thank you for confirming my worst fear lmao 😔
😭😭😭
we know, it sucks
for a while i thought it was gonna be that she would fail to uphold her promise not to cut corners to do magic (the one she made in The Iron Trial after the sand mishap) but..... she actually stuck to it for like the whole series??? ie by trying to stop call from resurrecting aaron because it was “unnatural”/“wrong” ..... so .... im confused too
Ikr?? I was expecting (and hoping for) her to have an arc where she has to struggle not to repeat Ravan’s mistake, especially after we learn that the devoured aren’t monsters and all that. I would have loved a scene where using her magic dangerously would’ve saved one of her friends or helped them in a dangerous situation but she has to find another solution. Alternatively, maybe a part where she’s reckless and is almost devoured, and her friends have to remind her that she can’t take risks like that, even if it’s to save them
But alas... 😖
omg that would have been such a cool arc for her!!!! i feel like a key theme of the series is breaking free of the past and its mistakes — seen most prominently in call’s relationship with constantine — and so tamara going on a journey like that, which seems perfectly set up by the whole ravan thing, would be incredibly fitting! and yes to both of those possibilities! i lowkey hate how tamara became ... so cautious toward the end of the series. like, teenager!tamara being less reckless than 11 y/o!tamara is unbelievable on every level ahahaha
i think you guys have perfectly summed up why i began to dislike tamara’s character later in the series!!! i couldn’t put my finger on it before, but i’ve realised she’s just become extremely cautious compared to the way she was when the series began!! her recklessness and fiery temper are gone and it makes her practically unrecognisable as a character because those were kind of the traits that made her stick out- i.e. every instance in the iron trial where tamara deviates from what she aspires to be like (her sister, kimiya!!! and ravan too if you want to look at the way tamara was taught to amplify her power in crisis). when she dumps pudding on jasper’s head we see kimiya shaking her head at the outburst, and tamara almost seems ashamed. that event is an example of the way those traits make up who she is!!! it would have been better to see her become more reckless, or learn to stop being so ashamed
YoU GUYS GET IT
Tamara felt so flat towards the end, especially how she was just converted into a love interest and almost nothing else!!
Especially her actions in the golden tower,,, to me it kind of felt like a betrayal of her character, even though I was proud of her for sticking with her beliefs about Aaron being revived. I feel like in that situation Tamara would’ve stayed and tried to change Call’s mind and bring him with rather than give up on him like she did, though? Tamara is too fierce and stubborn for me to think otherwise. Like... she broke him out of mage prison—Tamara is fucking determined to have her friend back,,, she’d call him out on his bullshit until he listened I feel like
so I started rereading the iron trial

The Assembly: Um, whatcha got there?
Alastair, standing directly over the words “KILL THE CHILD” carved into the ice with his wife’s dying strength while holding his infant son: A smoothie
Aaron in Call’s head:

Against my better judgement I ended up liking Jasper very much
