Chris Evans as Steve Rogers CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER
Character Studies: Cap in Infinity War
(Iām a big fan of the beard, okay?)
Avengers: Endgame (2019)Ā | Script to Screen
i love the first avenger so much because thatās the only time steve rogers ever gets to be steve. no one has any expectations for him. no one has turned him into a legend, or written his story in a history book. heās so fresh and eager and bright. he jumps on grenades, he loves his best friend, he thinks fondue is a euphemism for sex. he draws pictures of himself as a performing monkey on a unicycle, and canāt talk to girls. he doesnāt know how far he can jump, he doesnāt know what he can survive, but heās limitless because he needs to be. he smiles so freely. he doesnāt like bullies. he asks a group of men to be his team after knowing them for a day, trusting them immediately, and they become a family. tears stream down his face in a bombed bar when the most important person in his life dies, and he vows to avenge him. he flies a plane into the ocean bc there really is no other way. he wakes up and knows immediately that something is wrong, because that game was from 1943 which heās certain of bc heās a big fucking baseball nerd. heās so soft and golden and expressive. the first avenger is the last time we get to see him as steve rogers, and not what the future molds him to be. while he always retains his core, lost friends and the heavy burden of lost identity, altered over 70 years of dormancy, leaves him untrusting. hardened. cynical. no one knows who steve rogers is except maybe steve, but everyone has an Idea and Image in their heads he cannot live up to. he spends years fighting that mold, and redefining himself. I truly donāt think we see tfa steve again, undiluted, until heās reunited w bucky in wakanda, smiling wide
you ready to follow captain america into the jaws of death? hell, no. that little guy from Brooklyn, who was too dumb not to run away from a fight? iām following him.
these babes deserve a fun beach holiday, but someone really should help that deadly assassin - he still hasnāt quite learned how hammocks are meant to work
I'm reading the catfa script and I can't believe this was cut out:
OH MY FUCKING GOD
#vintage bisexual antics
Sam: JUST GO TO THE HOSPITAL-
Bucky: Oh, Iām sorry, is this OUR stab wound? Stay out of it.
if you can look at a character like steve rogersāson of immigrants, raised by a single mother, created to punch hitler and rise above bullies, made to do the right thing, written as someone who has called out xenophobia & talked about patriotism being willing out to call your country and government when itās wrong & not just ignorantly support it for the sake of nationalism, someone who has given up his title & turned away from his country when he knew it was doing something wrong, someone who as most recently as the black widow limited called people out for not being able to differentiate him from the alt-right, who has as recently as coatesās run talked about protecting those who are targeted by the law, those who america as a country are meant to support and take in & instead turn away or hurt because of racism & bigotry, someone who wanted to protect peopleās freedoms & their right to choose & their bodily autonomyāand say with their whole chest that āany personā can look at him & say heās āfor themā & that he can fit their ideals, that a character like steve rogers can be apolitical or that the role of captain america can be removed from politics... rip to you, buddy, but iām different.

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America attempts to choke Ultron. This is because he is from the 1930s and doesnāt understand what a robot is.
actual footage of me trying to figure out how the exact same people who made Captain America: The Winter Soldier also made Avengers: Endgame
Okay, Iām not reblogging this from anyone in particular because itās more than one specific person, but I just want to say, thereās a reason I phrased thisĀ āthe exact same peopleā and notĀ āthe exact same directorsā or justĀ āthe Russosā.
Winter Soldier and EndgameĀ had the exact same creative team. The Russos were the directors, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were the writers, Kevin Feige was the executive producer.
To reiterate, the same people who wrote Winter Soldier also wrote Endgame.Ā That means the same people who wrote, āNone of us can go back,ā were the same people who then wrote Steve going back to the woman who literally said those words to him!
(Also, like, the plot of Winter SoldierĀ actually makes sense?? Like, if youĀ ādonāt understand time travelā then donāt use it as a plot device??? Or at least bring in another writer who does???? Winter SoldierĀ is an actual movie, not just a collection of cool gifs and callbacks that doesnāt hang together if you actually think about it for more than half a second.)
The point is, Iām not just blaming the Russos here. Iām blaming the whole damn creative team. And theyāre all the exact same peopleĀ responsible for both movies.
ThatāsĀ what Iām having trouble wrapping my head around.
the same people who wrote steve sayingĀ āthis isnāt freedom; this is fearā wrote him retiring under mccarthyism.
