Me and a friend are discussing Hazbin Hotel and while I know it's normally fine to let people enjoy things. It reminds me of something particularly interesting. And it's something I've made a post on before so I'm not going to harp on it too much.
There are too many people who see themselves represented in that show. And I frankly think that that's kind of a bad thing. For a long time media both animated and non animated have made this weird paradigm where heaven is technically bad and evil whereas hell and demons are actually good. But if you ever break down the reality surrounding most of these shows, what you end up finding out is that people don't think rules should exist. And normally those rules exist around things that they themselves want to do or see themselves as.
Now, let me be perfectly clear. I am not religious. I have friends of varying walks of life. So I myself am not making any implications here.
However, to make a broader point. I do think it's reasonable to point out the fact that realistically this trend has gone on for too long. It's a bunch of whiny little toddlers (obviously not everyone) who see a strict code of conduct within the Bible, and want to do everything in their power to disobey. Realistically because they worship hedonism. But they have somehow convinced themselves that hell is actually a great place, and demons are just misunderstood. The reality is the Bible is very clear about what hell is. It is also very clear about what demons are. And a frequent issue is people go, "I'd totally become a demon and do whatever I want". Demons aren't good. They can't be good. They serve Satan against heaven. That's their entire schtick.
What annoys me most is this stupid idea that never is evil and than hell is good. The inverse is very true. But we live in a society full of whiny self entitled hedonists. All of whom think their world view is, "the correct" world view. And that world view is opposed by heaven therefore heaven must be bad. Sorry to burst your bubble but everyone living how they want always isn't even how a society works. People compromise to live amongst one another. That's how society has always been.
And finally while I get a bunch of people saying it's just a show. It's not. It's one media piece among many that glorify evil. I'm not saying you can't like it. I'm not even saying you can't enjoy the story. I'm saying this bullshit pattern of hell good, heaven bad needs to stop. It's frankly long since tired and it's kinda pathetic.
