Melodía had never seen a human like this one before. He was loud, strange, and he walked funny. But she liked him. It was amusing, watching him walk around as if his legs were about to give out, his arms reaching for things that weren’t there.
He seemed to be alone, at least for the time being. Maybe she could get a closer look. He certainly had cool looking shiny bobbles decorating him all over. She wanted one. Perhaps he’d drop one.
Doing her best to be stealthy, the mermaid begins slowly swimming towards the shore. However, having a bright, orange, glittering tail makes it hard to go unseen when in open water with no rocks to hide behind.
It was always an event, heading back towards the sea after time in port.
Too many times Jack had arrived back only to find his ship was once again gone. It was enough to make him concerned, even long after, and enough to not want to leave it too long. He meandered toward the edge of the water, ready to board the dingy to return to the thankfully still present Black Pearl. Lost in a world of his own thoughts, he ironed out plans for his quest in his mind-
Until something sunset colored and glittering caught his eye.
His gaze darted toward the surf, his brow furrowing.
Couldn't be. Too shallow, too public for a mermaid to be seen here.
