“You’re only accepting me because Mummy wants you to? That is a logical thing for you to do, but it does not comfort me.”

Send me a (✧∀✧) and I’ll randomly generate a number between 1-20. My muse will then say the following to your muse.
12: “Holy shit what happened to your face?”
“Christ alive, Violet. Is it really so bad that I keep traditional values?”
“If you’re so traditional, then stop using the Lord’s name in vain.”
“I only do it when I’m right fed up.”
“I don’t believe you. Plenty of fathers have disowned their sons for being like me.”
“Well, I’m not going to. Even if I wanted to, your mother would kill me.”

“Back when things were simple? You mean, back when our children didn’t have to worry about revealing their sexuality to their father? Or back when they were being harassed in school for their talents? Back when they found it hard to make friends? Ah yes. So simple.”

“I was looking for the picture albums. From when the boys were little.”
“Why are you looking for those? I don’t keep those in the garage. They’d get destroyed. The damp would seep in and ruin them. They’re in a box in the guest room.”
“Oh. That is good to know. I just wanted to see what the boys were like as children. Back when things were simple.”
“It is okay for you to hate me. I know my tendencies are wrong.”
“I could never hate you, Mycroft. You are my son, no matter what.”

I’ve given it some thought, and I think I’m willing to accept this. Not that I’m happy about it, but I don’t hate you. You’re still my son.

“It’s only a minor bruise. A box fell on me in the garage. I should really clean that up.”
“What on earth were you doing moving things around in the garage?’

"Hey, it's okay. They won't find you here."
"You don't have to tell me anything. You just have to relax."
"Shh. It's okay. I won't let go of you."
"Have you been crying? What's wrong?"
"Just listen to my voice. Breathe."
"Do you want some tea? Would that help?"
"You can tell me what's wrong. I won't judge you."
"Don't let go of my hand. I'll keep you safe."
"Are you crying? Come here. Let me hug you."
"You're going to be fine, I promise."
"Here, you can snuggle under my blanket. I'll protect you."
"We can stay here until you feel better. I don't mind."
"Just take a breath. Tell me what happened."
"They won't be able to reach you here, I swear."
"No, no, no don't cry! It'll be okay!"
"I brought you a (drink). Are you feeling better?"
"I brought you a cookie. Now, I demand the payment of one smile."
"There's nothing here. You're safe."
"It's gone. I chased it away!"
“Do you ever feel the need to throttle your own family?”
“Don’t be horrid, Mycroft. Family is all we have.”
Undercover
Mycroft had just heard the news that MI6 was accepting him to works among their ranks for a while as one of their agents. It would no doubt take a while to figure out which specialty he was in and depending on that he might be here for a while. Either way he was thrilled.
However, there was one significant downside to the massive undertaking he was about to do. That was cutting off all contact to his family and friends. The cutting off contact thing he had no real problem with, but the fact was that now he had a chance to say some things to his parents that he never could before.
A chance to really say what he thought, and to express any feeling or sentiment for those who called themselves his family. Mycroft only had this chance and it wasn’t likely that this would come to him again. Maybe his dad wouldn’t even read this letter, as he hardly did with mail of any kind. It wouldn’t change the words he wrote or their meaning, but it would change something knowing that there was a likely chance that the person he was writing this to wouldn’t read it.
Dad,
I’m going to be going away for a while, and it could be year before I have a chance to send you a letter or call you or Mummy. If I could tell you what was going on, and what’s leading up to this I would have, but strictly speaking it’s not supposed to be talked about widely by people not involved.
Things are going to change after this, hopefully for the better. You always said you wanted a successful bright son, Dad. By the end of this, you’ll have one.
You’ll have the son you always wanted, that should be a nice thought.
Don’t take it out on Sherlock either.
I’ll see you at the end
M Holmes.

Siger read his son’s letter with confusion. His son was going away? And what was this about a bright and successful son? Baffled by the note, he wrote a reply.
Mycroft,
Son, what on Earth do you mean? What is taking you away for so long? Why can’t you talk about it?
I’m not sure what you mean, Myc. You are my son, bright and successful and all. I don’t see what would change you, or why you’d want to change.
I’m not taking anything out on Sherlock.
The end of what?
Siger Holmes
Did you know Mycroft likes men? Because it seems everyone forgot to tell me.
Goodness yes, that’s old news. I’ve known that for quite some while. Darling, it was rather obvious.

Society doesn’t celebrate unique. It celebrates skilled, yes, but not abnomality. Our boys are going to be ridiculed. But if that’s what you want for them, then fine. Let them live their lives. When I go to Mycroft’s tomorrow, I will meet his children, shake hands with his…husband…and leave him alone. That’s all I can promise you. I’m not going to accept it, but I’ll at least try to be quiet about it. For you, and for our son.
Get down off your bloody high horse and stop acting as if I’m forcing them into a life of ridicule. Because I’m not. And I won’t have you trying to play the overly moral guilt card. Society should celebrate unique and they’re losing out if they can’t find the intelligence to appreciate my boys. You’ll do that for me? Goodness, how absolutely darling of you. How wonderful that you’ll actually attempt to treat our son like a human being for my sake. At this rate I couldn’t care less what you do. You’ve made your stance perfectly clear and frankly, this has been a thoroughly eye-opening conversation.
I’m trying, dammit, Violet. What do you want me to do? Forget everything I was taught, everything I was raised to believe? Rules I’ve followed my whole life? I’ve been drinking myself stupid since I found out, trying to put together the pieces and see how I missed this. And you know what I found out? I didn’t miss it. I knew the whole damn time, Violet, ever since he was kid, that he was different. I just didn’t know how different. And now I do know, and I wish I didn’t. I’m not saying I won’t accept it, I’m saying I can’t. I just can’t put that image with the little boy I raised.

I just don’t understand how you’re okay with this. Of course I still love Mycroft, he is my son, but why couldn’t he just be…normal? You don’t see any of our other sons doing things like this, do you? Hiding relationships from their parents like cowards?
I hate to break it to you but being gay is not what makes our sons unusual. Good god man, look at them. They solves cases and judge people based on their fingernails. One of them came back from the dead. There never has and never will be anything normal about them. And I’m glad. Because they’re precious boys with unique talents. You see, they don’t hide anything from me - So I wouldn’t know. They tell me everything. So really, I think you need to take a step back and ask yourself the question - Why aren’t they telling you anything?

“Of course not. I had to try, though - my life is dreadfully boring compared to yours. A lot safer, though, I’d assume. You’re keeping safe, right?”
“Oh, yes. I’ve only been on a mission with a field agent once, otherwise I work from Q-branch.”
“Ooh, a field mission. Was it fun? You can tell me that much, at least?”
