I still love how when Killianās doing his poor little blacksmith ruse and telling them how he hid, and Emma makes her quip about fortune favouring the brave, thereās a tiny little moment where a glimpse of Hook shows through when he says āit was all I could do to surviveā
thereās just a little emphasis on āsurviveā where he suddenly sounds like himself again, his voice stops shaking and he sounds more assertive
because the ruse is important and heās playing his role, but then this woman all but calls him a coward and he canāt, he cannot, let that stand. The entire ruse hinges on him being a helpless victim, heās playing a coward and he knows it, but he canāt help defending his honour a bit, he needs her to know that blacksmith!Killian had no choice, it was that or be killed, you would have done the same, lady, okay, itās not a question of bravery damn it
