Day 99 (Nov 25)

(I know...I know. But I'm afraid for it to end.)

- "easter egg" turkey theme in my texting app. Love.

- my new rainfall showerheard is glooooorious

- Pain is almost all gone!

- Thanksgiving beers in the office

- friends in town and meatBAWLZ

- sun finally burst out after a gloomy day all day and crazy weird sunlight

- #gsd - replaced the showerhead, washed all of the dishes, washed all of my water bottles from strep time, washed all the sheets/blankets/pillowcases I drooled on

- Picking up an armful of warm blankets from the dryer is the best hug

Day 98 (Nov 24)

- Falling asleep last night was glorious. I was so warm and comfortable under my three blankets, all of my extremities were warm, and it was like I was melting into my bed.

- Wonderful NP Svenja who was so understanding/supportive/helpful

- a 70 degree day in the midst of 20-30 degree days

- antibiotics that started kicking strep's ass almost right away

- putting nib to paper and starting to reply to some letters :)

Day 97 (Nov 23)

- Podcasts that make me think. Love YMIW. I want to reevaluate why certain things upset me and how they're just shining a spotlight on something I dislike about myself.

- A walk in the park / sun, because I am an invalid

- Kids just playing around me, completely unafraid and unabashed. Innocent glee is so heart warming.

- Amaaaaazing pollo a la brasa. Peruvian chicken is da best!

Day 96 (Nov 22)

- Amazing NP at clinic. "Your tonsils are tremendous!" "You know the good stuff they keep behind the counter, the stuff people make meth out of? That's what you want."

- Churrrrros and champurrado after my churrasceria dream. Clearly I'm a food clairvoyant. 

- Bday part with dry rub wings and shrimp dumplings. and cake. Yum!

- The holiday decorations aren't fully out yet, but just seeing the snowflakes and stuff hung up on the streets already and being in the spirit!

Day 95 (Nov 21)

- Just realized day 100 is going to be the day before Thanksgiving. How appropriate!

- I unfortunately got hella sick, BUT I'm grateful I have a job where I can take a sick day to rest.

- Humidifier...my life...my love. Humidify me.

- LINE party with friends! Honestly was a great way to spend Friday night. 

- Chinese news on in the background for homesickness

- share the (jiggly) wealth!

Day 94 (Nov 20)

Look at my babies!

I slept like the dead last night and woke up before my alarm

After seeing all of the homeless around on the streets where it’s 20 degrees, I’m grateful I have a warm bed and roof over my head, with a safety net of parents and education

Day 93 (Nov 19)

The flexibility to work from home for a morning

Unexpected washes of light and color on my wall

Going to Home Depot and getting 8 qts of potting mix finally. #GSD feels good, even if a website makes you vastly misjudge how big the smallest bag available is.

A bento box lunch that gave me ACTUAL MIXED GREENS for salad *and* legit salmon teriyaki *and* did not skimp on the California rolls. I've found my new favorite sushi restaurant.

Getting my new mouse - makes such a difference for quality of life at work.

Repotting all of my plants! My spider plant babies and aloes and money tree and green onion. Pruning feels mentally great.

Day 92 (Nov 18)

Look good, feel good 

Extra unexpected hour of sleep

Did not get myself fired while meeting w/ the CEO and talking with him

Called one of our engineers out on the phrase “eats like a girl”

Sunlight reflects off of the buildings that are basically giant mirrors and provides rather flattered illumination of this building. Like in a movie.

Day 91 (Nov 17)

First real gym visit where I sweated. Cardio + lifting, baby! I AM WOMAN RAWR

A nice boring weeknight at home with leftover chili and hockey. Really.

The night may be dark and full of terrors, weird GoT lady, but my butt’s got a warm body to back up to (back, back, back it up)

Day 90 (Nov 16)

Lazing around inside all day

Finally getting those two huge bags of stuff to Goodwill - both my closet and floor look significantly neater

Also got to make my little octopus/crab hot dogs! Have I ever shown you pictures of them? The crabs are just the middle portions of the hot dogs with two slits on either side (to make 6 legs).

Day 89 (Nov 15)

Brilliantly sunny day

Being the “talent” at an event and getting fed free sandwiches and cheese plates and beer (amazing!)

Whiskey bar where hot bartender flashed his chest/abs while taking off his sweater. Zomg. “A hot body is a hot body, regardless of what gender’s body he chooses to throw his on!”

Day 87 (Nov 13)

DO ANYTHING temporary tattoo being reinterpreted as HUMP ANYTHING

Learning about lunch delivery allowance for the week. 

Circadian twins

A damn good Chirashi dinner for free. Barely used any ginger or soy sauce!

First gym visit in months. Felt good to feel strong.

The trees are slowly reddening and thinning out...

Day 88 (Nov 14)

New makeup to play with. Loving the softer/more coral lipstick.

Getting my bubble tea fix, even if it took 45 minutes. Mmmmm boba.

I remember when the Fulton Street station was under construction, oh, 6 years ago. It finally opened and when I wandered in, there were more security/staff than actual visitors.  

Surprisingly productive meeting w/ designer where I not only talked my boss out of Helvetica (so overused!) but decided on a new logo. Whoot!

Got my first real big work thing out and done and awesome

Date night at Moroccan where I had some of the best creme brûlée…and some bisteeya and shrimp that weren’t bad either.

I just like how out of place this Italian palace thing is in the Financial District. I'd love to know more more about buildings.

Day 86 (Nov 12)

- I went back to the scene of the crime and found a SECOND row of trees that was even REDDER! 

- I also finally went up the set of stairs that led to this awesome little terrace/overlook on the water and park

- Signed up for the gym! 

- Just terrible, terrible racist/sexist jokes with friends. Potatoes, haggis, and whiskey. "That's racist, that's just ignorant, and now that's a food."

Day 85 (Nov 11)

- A security guard pointed me towards this park after I brazenly walked into a construction zone, and I'm so glad he did because I'm not sure when I would have discovered it otherwise. (See more pics on FB!) It's this beautifully landscaped area with SO much fall foliage. I love just walking there. 

- Eating lunch in the sun with Lady Liberty

- Having a full work day

- Finally understand the new healthcare plan I'm going to be on next year. It feels good to feel competent.

- New temporary tattoo that unexpectedly had #otm implications.

Day 84 (Nov 10)

- Going to see The Daily Show with E! Great way to catch up in a captive environment and girl talk. We were also VIP so we got to sit SO CLOSE.

- This Christmas tree of a building that we saw on our way out.

- Beautiful profusion of color I saw on my walk down. There are so many places I would never walk to before because I felt they were too far, but I learned to walk a lot more when I was unemployed :)

- Phone non-interview that was a bummer but also simultaneously more confidence-building for current role

- Naps in the sunlight

- Leftover brisket, pulled pork, and hot sausage (#otm) for lunch

- Reading psych journal articles about happiness (link). They really inform the way I think and deal with the world so much. I miss academia.

Honestly not sure where this post went. It's a mish mash of stuff that I'm too lazy to double check.

- Is it weird I'm getting anxiety about these ending? They kept me accountable to focusing on the positive.

- Another day, another different landscape. I love seeing how different it is in each weather pattern.

- The leaves, they are a'changin! I'd like to try to put together a series of these photos to show the trees going bare. By winter, you'll be able to see the highway under there... 

- Really great talk with one of our remote employees. I get the feeling we'd be friends if we ever met up, and he's really helpful and straightforward.
