Cara slipped inside, pulling her laundry bag with her. “Thanks. I won’t be too long.” She nodded, picking a pillow up off the bed and tugging at the edges of the case. “It has been some time. I’m alright. How about you?”

I have been looking for answers in the library. Answers about lots of things. Like what’s wrong and right and how people get through hard things. I want answers. I’m scared about having a baby and not having Cole. And not knowing if my baby is going to hear things that aren’t there or feel empty and alone all the time. And not knowing if I’m going to start hearing things that aren’t there. So I looked for the religion books. I’ve found them fairly helpful, and very interesting. And one of them made me think a lot about Cole. It’s one of my favorites so far. It’s from the Christian Bible in John. “ But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” This is Jesus speaking. A group of men is trying to stone a woman for adultery. And he says this to them. He tells them that if any of them are perfect, they can persecute her. But none of them were perfect. Jesus wasn’t this hateful guy that Christians make him out to be. He ended up being best friends with that woman. I wish people would think about this when they judge me or Cole. A man today looked at me like I was dirty because I was standing with my hand on my stomach, and I’ve started to show a little. People look at Cole like a monster, but they have no idea what he goes through. I wish these people who call themselves Christians would listen to what Jesus actually said. I also found a song called Holy, and I think it’s very relevant to this. I wish people would just love each other. I don’t understand how they couldn’t. We are beautiful. I wish everyone could see that. I’ve started thinking of names. For a boy, all I have so far is Cole and Andy. Maybe Alex, but that would get confusing if they were in the same room. For a girl, I have Stephanie, Violet, Isabelle, and Aurora.

Headcanon 002

Cara is constantly troubled by the possibility of schizophrenia taking hold and dominating her life. However, she has not been tested, because if it comes back positive, she fears something of a nocebo effect and lifelong paranoia. She is especially on edge now that she is entering the second trimester of her (phantom) pregnancy. She often stays up and tries to decide if she would rather her baby be schizophrenic, sociopathic, or have an ‘addictive personality’ and become hooked on a substance like her father did. This feeling of helplessness has led her into the library on multiple occasions, searching for answers in books about religion.
