I've been coming into contact with my darker side a lot lately, and it's taking it's toll on me. I can't help but feel as if I'm moving backwards in my journey. Any advice? -M
When we come in contact with these dark or shadow aspects of ourselves we feel bad and we feel all that we’ve been avoiding and running from and so we believe that we’ve taken a step backwards. This is part of the belief that feeling good is preferred to feeling bad and that we should be happy and peaceful all the time and if we don’t we are sliding backwards somehow. But, there is no going backward. There is always forward. You are always growing and you’ll grow through your darkness, it will push you to grow. Keep going. Embrace as much as you can and work with your darkness as much as you can. Give it an expression in your life, let it out in a way that is constructive or creative and try to see it not as bad, but just as a part of you that is unwanted. Those things doesn’t have to run your life and if you make your darkness more and more conscious it will not be able to take you over as much and have you unconsciously act it out. So keep going in, keep feeling and working with that dark side of you. It is there to help you and you are here to help it. Try to sense that.
