“Wonderous, huh?” he murmured. He smiled back, he couldn’t help it. “Yeah, yeah, I’m definitely missing home.” He missed home, even the lie he used to live. He almost wished for it back. “I noticed. Just a little, the accent,” he teased.
“Ah like t’think so.” Her smile changed from sympathetic to teasing, her nose scrunching up. “Ah cannae help it! At least you’ve got no accent t’give ye away.” Still, she knew how much home sickness could hurt, seeping into the soul like a gentle ache that never faded. “You should hear me afta few drinks. Ah can barely understand miself.”
