Grimm would like to think that he keeps a good mask. To most, he does. To his loved ones, he does not. Especially not now. He's just so tired, much as he tries not to seem it. He's so tired and everything hurts. His arms hurt from such simple actions, his legs hurt from merely kneeling. Existing...hurt. He couldn't bring himself to voice just how bad it was though. He never did. Pausing from what Brumm says, he feels his heart shudder.
You've upset him now. You're just making things worse.
He's not, he knows he's not, but it's difficult to believe that right now. He simply forces a smile, and a nod, lowering his hands slowly and attempting to will them to stop shaking. He was fine. He had to act like it.
"Of course, love. I-I wouldn't say no to that."
He mentally curses himself for stuttering.
Normally Brumm would agree that Grimm's mask was rather good at fooling others with his mask. After all, the Higher Being was a performer at his core. It came to him naturally and he could sway most viewers to believe him about most things. Or at least, he could under normal circumstances but this was now anything but that. The moth was in agony and tired and it showed plain as day to the beetle. It was painful to see him like that but there was little he could do.
Brumm didn't eye his partner as he stops brushing his fur. He didn't want sympathy or pity to show on his face. He knew that Grimm hated those and he'd be damned if it wore those expressions on his face... No matter how badly he wanted to. The stutter almost breaks that quiet resolve, threatening to cause him to change his calm expression.
Instead he grabbed his accordion and began to do a few test notes to make sure it was in tune even though he'd checked it earlier that day. Satisfied that it was in tune and fine the musician began to play his go to song as a warm up.
"I'll play the new songs after this one."
